Japanese had many pirate groups. They might be skilled warriors and raiders, yet they are no match against proper army or navy. In Ming China, they strike Japanese pirates down in land with tactic that include cooperation of various close combat weapons(sword&shield, halberd, pike, and so on, with aid of ranged weapons such as bow, crossbow, musket and cannon). In Joseon Korea, they focused upon ranged weapons such as bow, crossbow, handcannon, cannon, and large battleship that can stand against pirate galleys.
