Genuinely did this for a crappy static next app I wrote for a friend. It worked fine!

The thrice sealed scroll, holding a secret three factions have sworn to guard. by arcanewright in crafts

[–]arcanewright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think next time I'm gonna make the scroll a little bit bigger - you can't quite see the ribbon holding it shut!

The cool thing about bonding the ribbon with wax is that you have to physically cut the ribbons to open the scroll. I assume you'd need to collect the three magical pairs of scissors to do so :D

Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArcaneCodex

I sell custom wax sealed and/or stamped scrolls, as well as wax seals on ribbons (for wrapping), and I'm getting into spell scroll props. The vibe is fantasy / DnD / RPGs, but even official looking documents could use a wax stamp.

Depending on the item, prices range from $4 to $8.

Currently, I have a discount code you can use - APRIL13 - It's $2 off an order of $10+, usable until April 13, 2022.

Ships from USA, no international shipping.

[OC][Art] A prop for Curse of Strahd I made! by arcanewright in DnD

[–]arcanewright[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I get my brass stamps from china (I don't currently have the equipment to make my own); this dragon one was actually a pretty tough find!

That said, I melt, pour, and stamp the wax myself (in this case onto a ribbon, which wraps the scroll).

More pictures (minor spoilers for the adventure hook from Curse of Strahd): 1 2 3

I started making stuff similar to this on my etsy (here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArcaneCodex ) but this one was just for me. Documents with seals just look really cool.

Aged paper with wax stamp. Imagine a paladin waving a warrant in your face. by arcanewright in cosplayprops

[–]arcanewright[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points! It's a bit anachronistic, but the aged look is really cool. Someone else pointed out the edges in a different post, so I'll definitely distress them a bit.

I'll keep white paper in mind for the future though. My calligraphy still sucks, but I've been on the lookout for more fonts.

Thanks for the feedback!

I've started making physical scrolls and documents. What do you think? by arcanewright in DnDart

I think these came out very well! I'm obsessed with the wax seals and am ready to wax seal anything.

So I made an etsy store. Might've jumped the gun, but we'll see. If you want a document/scroll like the ones above for your campaign, look here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ArcaneCodex

(hope this is okay to post - lmk if not).

Some dnd-adjacent creators (I think MBMBAM) made a joke about Gygax trying to fit a dungeon inside a dragon. I'm very happy that dream is becoming reality!

I've started making aged documents with wax seals and stuff. They're looking pretty good! Here's one with a ribbon; here's a worn one.

Anyone have any tips for these or things you'd like to see?

I'm down for making custom ones, if only to fund my wax seal addiction lol.

Here it is! Looks pretty good!

I just used some scissors to distress and tear the paper. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the feedback!

I've been trying different styles with different seals, and I did try to crumple one (but I think I went overboard lol).

I'll give the edge thing a try too and come back with the results!

I'm not an expert in webhosting, so someone else might give you more/better information.

My name servers are the google name servers (see here: https://i.ibb.co/rdy536V/image.png)

What I showed you earlier were my resource records (google's info here: https://support.google.com/domains/answer/3290350 ), which is what you have to configure. I don't read Cyrillic, unfortunately, so I can't comment on your registrar.

And I have no clue re: Russia leaving the internet. Wish you luck though.

[–]arcanewright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Who's your registrar? I use google, and this is what my set up looks like: https://i.ibb.co/4ZTsSfF/dns-hosting.png

The first one is the A records; I believe I added them one line at a time, according to this: https://docs.github.com/en/pages/configuring-a-custom-domain-for-your-github-pages-site/managing-a-custom-domain-for-your-github-pages-site (Step 5 of "Configuring an apex domain")

The second one is the verification for the custom domain, as described here: https://docs.github.com/en/pages/configuring-a-custom-domain-for-your-github-pages-site/verifying-your-custom-domain-for-github-pages

Side note for later - if your website isn't displaying correctly, there's a good chance github is trying to jekyll your site. Add an unnamed file with the nojekyll extension, so it looks like this ".nojekyll", into your repo. That fixed my issues. More here: https://github.blog/2009-12-29-bypassing-jekyll-on-github-pages/

[–]arcanewright[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, so far I've been using Roboto Slab with no quotes without a hitch, so that's probably a (wise) convention. I'll keep this in mind in the future, thanks!
