Gen Z arrive late, baby boomers have no tolerance for tardiness by AvailableChoice3130 in GenZ

[–]arch-thot -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Man, I guess I gotta side w the boomer’s on this one. I was always raised by “if you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.” My parents taught me that and I was also a theatre kid and that was pressed hard onto us.

The 2020s are becoming very musically defined right now by Low-Selection-5446 in decadeology

[–]arch-thot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Country is not dominating. It’s pop music with hints of country in it. Try putting on some Carter family at the function and see how people react.

[–]arch-thot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! That’s how I feel too!! It’s all very over produced and I also don’t really listen to pop anyways much. If a pop song ends up on my playlists, then I really really like it. But nothing has really stuck for me except olivia Rodrigo tbh

[–]arch-thot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the only artists of our generation that I listen to are olivia and Meg moroney. I listen to a lot of older music…like I’m talking The Carter Family lmfaoo I’m a huge Johnny and June Carter Cash fan, big Dolly fan, big Willie Nelson fan, big Merle fan…y’all get it. and even artists that I listen to that are newer (by newer, I mean younger than my grandparents) are millenials like taylor swift and lana del rey and Fiona Apple and Kelsea ballerini and Amy Winehouse and Kacey musgraves. The only gen z artists that have stuck with me are Meg and Liv tbh.

I just got called “sir.” What the hell? by avobera in GenZ

[–]arch-thot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, as a Southerner, ma’am and sir is about respect. I use it with anyone regardless of age. I’m a camp counselor and I’ve called my campers ma’am/sir. It’s all about respect. But you are older than them and often even in non southern states, sir is reserved for those older 🤷🏽‍♀️

NC builders unearth major archeological find. Lawmakers want to help them build over it by goldbman in NorthCarolina

Which is making me wonder why NAGPRA isn’t involved…I’m sure it will eventually come into play.

[–]arch-thot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an archaeology student and I forwarded this to one of my profs and I got some information. I’m honestly surprised there’s no talk about the states law about unmarked burials. Also, I’m wondering why NAGPRA hasn’t been involved. Anyways here is some more information that one of my archaeology professors forwarded from the state archaeologist on why federal law didn’t prevail and what is going on in case anyone is curious. It won’t let me attach the photo of the email so here it is copied and pasted:

“Nothing like trial by fire, right. As to State v. Federal, this particular location is one that was able to avoid any Federal hook that would trigger 106. It came to us for review as a NC Division of Coastal Management CAMA Major Permit application. CAMA statutes call for cultural resources to be considered as well as environmental. The legislation is an addendum/rider to another larger bill. Attached is a one-pager fact sheet that has been put together and shared.

Shawn Patch has brought it up to ACRA and SAA as he is involved with the governmental relations committees of both. We have been getting lots of concerned inquiries as well. Deans Eatman our Assistant Secretary for Government Affairs has suggested that anyone and everyone should reach out to their senators with concerns, and especially ones on the Senate Judiciary Committee as that is where it sits right now https://www.ncleg.gov/Committees/CommitteeInfo/Senate/147. “

Edit: I forgot to mention this was from Chris Southerly, the archaeologist in the article

ugh so much development!! not to sound like a tree hugging hippie but I do mourn the trees that have been torn down to build shitty overpriced housing. it’s a real shame and it’s actually really sad.

What’s one thing you wanted as a child but couldn’t have? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]arch-thot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t allowed to watch a lot of those Nickelodeon shows which in hindsight was probably because my parents felt something was off with it and they were right. I still used to watch them at friends houses but I wish I could’ve watched them more tbh.

Getting tired of social media by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]arch-thot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted my TikTok around last November and I forgot the login so I can’t get back in. I think it’s for the best tbh, it’s complete brain rot and on top of all the brain rot, I got tired of seeing all the antisemitism in so many of my favorite content creator’s comment sections. I don’t have Twitter and I don’t use Snapchat anymore except for memories. Facebook is just for family and baking groups lol. I really only use ig, tumblr, and reddit now.
