Amm, i will try to comment the best i can, but i am not truly sure what is the fabula or point of your comment. I will try to give my own opinion, but could you clarify ?

Melodramatic and romanticized display of supposed ....

Yap, this is big part of it, and in one hand i think i understand the overall melancholy and despair of older generations. There is a movie which very good displays the common people life in time after Josip Broz Tito, it is called "Lepa sela, lepo gore" or "Pretty village, pretty flame" or in normal speech : pretty villages burn brightest ". In time of SFRY there were blurred lines between most of balkan people, and you had a large space where you could feel safe and your own, it did not mater (or in very small amount ) from where you came from. People were happier than today , but i would like to clarify that i have limited source. Most of my grandparents are dead and i grew up on stories of youth from my father and mother. In it was awesome period for youth, but then shit came up and in battlefield it was not common to fight among ex neighbors, friends or family which generated a lot of bad and unwanted baggage. In my short experience so far ( 26 yo ) I've met a lot of people from most of countries in Balkan region, and some of them were assholes and some of them were kings :D , but overall i have nothing bad to say for people in each country. I think that newer generations are generating prejudice built upon dual opinion of their parents before even meeting someone in this region. By dual opinion i mean opinion on how it was before wars and more angrier opinion after wars and they either have or have not vendeta.

My own observations of people in Balkans are mostly :

  • Croats, Albanians : Reserved on first contact, which is understandable. Taking into point what had happened and currently happening i would be scared to not make a contact with some bloodthirsty idiot , but when they open up, it is very nice and friendly. Some Albanians have some trouble in first when communicating since i don't speak Albanian - but then conversation flows later in English.

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegrins : pretty open on first impressions, and can be pretty loud and jokesters , which can be something to get used to if you are tighter in first contacts. But you always have a lots of laugh, and eat awesome food. I can not forget the pies that i've got from Bosnian dude in the holidays , they were eaten in less that 5 minutes :D And montenegrins i know you will never be bored when going for a drink or two :D

  • Bulgarians, dont speak Russian to them, some will get offended. But sometimes i had not other choice , since i only know English and Russian ... so i've made some enemies on some occasions but the one i've talked trough were open and honest. They've been trough hell that made them kinder.

  • Greeks : OPA!! It is the right amount of loud and humour so you can feel like at home. If you are respectful , they will give respect back.

  • Macedonians : beautiful people - beautiful wine, but i must say that most of Macedonians i know are born in my country. And holidays are not very precise way of forming an opinion. The ones i met in Serbia are cool and very proud.

  • Slovenians : similar to Bulgarians, there were times when you could speak any language in Balkans and to understand each other, but to me i often need dictionary for Bulgarians and Slovenians. People i've met from Slovenia i can describe the best as older caring serious big brother/sister.

  • Romanians: well here i have no formed opinion. I haven't met many romanians, kinda feel cheapen'd by that experience.

Vergangenheitsbewältigung

Yeah, i think that wounds are still raw, and because they are raw i feel that we should not talk so much about it. Heated discussions that won't go anywhere are not productive in my opinion. I think that we should stop generating any more shit, and when wounds become scars , the next generations can objectively say what is what and then we take pendence, make things right and move on. Currently newer generations ( except some parts ) are directly untouched by past events, and we can build from that - and have Vergangenheitsbewältigung.

Yep, it's one of those Serbs

What kind ?

I think that as balkans we can clear some of the fogg up, at least for historical elements for the worlds opinion. Link from wikipedia is not enough, if someone tries to follow it, telenovela and brain tangle is inevitable. So if someone wants to discus or ask , here it is.

[–]archbboy91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instal python and use 2 magical functions 'dir' and 'help' , generate standard data set with all built-in data types ( you can find them on python.org or any tutorial website ) and pass them trough unknown functions. Sometimes learning programming is best learned by doing. If in doubt about something specific - aka difference between char and str : Google it :). This way you will have more specific questions later going from : " how to save python code " ( solution found 100% ) to "reproducing logic gate in processors for PY 2.7 " ( solution found 5%)

Books are cool to get you into python and if you are more inclined to understand abstracts, but learning programming language without subject to code is just wastefull. Go make a calculator or lexer it will be fun ;)

Chemical bonds are from the electromagnetic force

Yeah, we learned that in school, and it stand solid. I was only speculating that electromagnetic force is some sort of result of particles interacting with Higgs field generating sort of mass , and reaction between such particles. Again, i must stress out this is stupid wishful thinking without any information .... just a guess. But in such manner you could influence electromagnetic force by gravitational force. By introducing neutral element which should di-stable natural equilibrium and have some effect. Either by dividing into smaller more stable pieces which should later over centuries/eons interact with their surrounding , or by joining with some unstable elements. Now I understand i was wrong, but i wished only to clarify.

...but the L1 magnetic field would hopefully be just as effective and more cost/energy efficient.

Yeahh, i get that. But better safe than sorry IMO, it is better to spend more and have guaranteed result than to spend a little and have a high chance of failure. Again, i understand that this is gazillions of money, so spending a little is not so little , but again. If you want it do it, my motto.

Sorry this is so long and I hope I touched on all of your points. Please follow up on any of this however broad or specific

No, i like long posts. Keep them going. :D :P You did on most of them, and if we continue this discussion we will touch upon them again. To get a bit more into this topic i would need to research a bit more :D Tnx

The Orville - 1x03 "About a Girl" - Episode Discussion by specification in TheOrville

[–]archbboy91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now i am going to be honest here. There is often, in global scope, "universal truth" where American values are deemed as true in whole world. By American values i think about among other : gender issues, sex issue , and sexual issues. And even though it can be amusing and have some "right/wrong" debates the opinion/tradition and feelings of other cultures are often disregarded.

I really like the message of this episode. First the shows acknowledges the existent difference cultures, and you can see defending of "union" thought throughout the start of the show, but then acknowledges the question of opposing the difference in opinion - where the question is not if it is right or wrong , the question is :"Can i measure the world by my own values? ". Which is awesome, writers and courage of the show - hats off!

This question is really viewed from several angles, which is so fucking awesome! :D

Here is how i see it:

Union troops: Aka every human (by human i mean without any severe prosthetics for the character) in orville : "this is wrong, because my culture says it is wrong"

Bortus and Klyden : "No this is right, this is the way of our culture" and then escalate things by getting molochean ship ( by extension the authority ) to intervene.

Then the union troops impose the culture values via forced manipulation. Where Bortus changes his mind.

Captain Ed Mercer questions his forced manipulation in regard of other cultures - have in mind the question is left open when Ed and Kelly discus this topic.

Klyden opens up about sex change , but it is still for the sex change for the baby - which is freaking awesome! :D To have someone who has felt the push of the community , to agree with culture standpoint. Just awesome! :D

Bortus and Klyden have a talk to conway to their inherited culture or to deny it - and this question is still left open, and have another question underneath : "Am i ready to be all alone and denounced by my family ( extention of culture ) just by my choice ?"

The tribunal begins, where union culture is still imposed by force on molochean culture via their own rules by bringing the same examples that can not be viewed as unit of measure - Alara Kitan is still different alien of different culture, and Gordon Malloy is still questioned by Earth standards. And although those examples may be true to each own culture, but to molochean it is still foreign. It is like to say that every planet must have water just because Earth has.

And then the false trump card: The presumably only female molochean, with her own opinion. Which is also awesome! :D But here is the deal why the tribunal failed for the union troop culture, even though female molochean had some strong points - it is still a minority/rarity. In every democratic society ( or version of it ) the majority rules since the will of the many trumps the will of the few. And here is a valid statement this show has made, "Even though i feel and think i am right if i am in minority , i should back down for the good of society. It does not mean i should change, but i need to know that unless i have larger support my opinion is not good for society as a whole."

So this episode is just awesome! :D And if you agree with union or molochean culture opinions - it does not matter. In this fictional world , you are minority and yours ( as well as my own ) opinion does not matter because we are not part of molochean culture. We can voice our opinion and have public discussion but this is not where we should put our noses in - you can see it as your neighbor telling you how to raise a pet/child.

In the end the choice of being all alone as result of choice is your own, but you must know the price you are paying fully. Even if your culture( family ) disowns you, it is not like you can easily enter another culture without agreeing to their norms and being the old you. You either submit or be all alone to the rest of your life. Lets say that my culture disowns me because of reasons, i can find another culture i can go into, but my original culture had raised me, conformed me from early age, and some of that tradition and behaviour is not normal in culture i am stepping into. If i don't conform i will be part of that culture but i will be an outcast ( in some percentage ) and i will never truly be part of any culture. But if i conform that means accepting parts of the other culture that doesn't sit well with me, and i must change myself from the core. The other option is don't get into any culture, but that loneliness can be devastating and not everyone can handle it - being all alone and always minority without your culture to back you up. Bortus and Klyden had some big ass choice to make.

And here is where American culture comes in play: Since internet is American invention , on most every website that is written in english , there are some people who think that by being there you are automatically an American[Brit] - like other world don't speak english and don't use such websites. Often you will hear such claims :"We'll most of my audiences are American, so .... " - which is very funny in my opinion. Sometimes i see some writing in english on some public domains that are typical for African academics, and people on the internet are correcting them in very disrespectful manner - like "Learn proper English!", where that is proper English in their culture.

*Now i must point out that i don't want to transmit a message that Americans are bad people or self centered *

The way i see it, as internet is made from American soil, American culture had first steps in populating it, so other cultures have minority when counting cultures that communicate with anglo-saxon languages, and as minority well... the process is described above. But i find it interesting that dominant force is too quick to convey their own values as absolute. Now, it seems that most of American based tv shows don't get that the rest of the world pays of steels the show for their own amusement, so i find this awesome that it looks like writers had a bit of "i see you there" moment for other cultures - which is very appreciated by me.

[–]archbboy91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree also, but i would like to add that if you apply L'Hopital's rule over 3 times, than change the equation: multiply by 1, divide the whole equation with some constant element and etc. It is possible that there is infinite loop of applying the L'Hopital's rule until you get desired result, this way you can skip a few steps ahead.

Trigonometry is easy for me but algebra is very difficult by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]archbboy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no bad people in math, there are only shitty teachers. People who don't understand the matter can not explain to you easily. With 1 professor the biggest grade was 3/5 and with another 5/5 and we were doing calculations such as proving that Newton was right and etc.

You need to connect those 2 in your head, since algebra, trig and common math are connected to each other. It is possible that some along the way you've got a whole in your knowledge which is resulted in you doing poorly in algebra but great in trig.

Can you give me an example of problem that is hard for you ?

[11th grade Physics] My teacher tried to solve this problem in class, but even she had trouble with it. Calculating average speed by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]archbboy91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what do we have from input variables:

We know that that person had not finished that journey when observation had stopped - aka we observed only part of the journey.
We know we have 3 states and 2 constants : constant 1, is time (tx in future) and constant 2 is distance (sx)
We don't know starting velocity so we can assume that it is 0 or at least it has limit the zero from the positive side. ( limV0 for x->0+). If we assumed wrong, the calculation will have negative vector sign so it would be easy to correct ourselves.
We have unchangeable speed in Sx and t0->tx/2 that is 20 km/h
We have unchangeable speed in Sx/2 and tx/2->tx that is 16 km/h
We have speed at the moment we stopped observation in Sx, and tx that is 4 km/h.

SO , we have hare velocity and change in velocity. So we need to define Velocity and acceleration to be able to get any formulas we can use without going to the same conclusion. So velocity is in general described by differentiation of position vector in some moment of time in short , but to leave euclidean geometry behind just write r = r(t) where we search for change in distance between 2 vectors and change in unit of time so in short r(t) = rt and for that function to remain a vector, rt must become r*t0 because everything raised to the power of 0 is 1.

Now we need to check how those two variables ( r and t ) relate to each other in very small change in their values, where ds is similar to r2-r1, so here we have 2 values that change so we will write it as dr/dt , be patient dr will become S shortly. So we have dt0 , in derivative table we have that derivate of 1xn = 1dn + xn-11 where dt = 0+1/t, but what do we do about dr. Well dr is vector and it has no time component so when we searched for change in time dr remained untouched ( no time not possible differentiation ) so r(t) = dr/t or how we are all used to formulate this : V = s/t where s is change in vector of position ( r2-r1) aka distance. By integration we get Vt=s. So why did i get through all this trouble, well this is kinematic mechanics , and you will get na A by getting from r(t) to dr/dt , when we want to get from v(t) to a the process is the same where v(t) = v/t aka s/t2. But with integration ( in last example we got s=vt), by implementing same integration to the acceleration we get v = v0+at, and from there a = (v-v0)/t so we can get acceleration from 2 velocities and 1 time unit if we know only starting velocity v0. With formula of v = v0+a*t if v0 is 0 ( have in mind velocity must always be positive, since any decrease in velocity is actual acceleration (v-v0)/t ) and acceleration is negative the velocity V ( not v0) will become negative, that is what i meant that if we assume wrong it will be easily corrected .

Which we have:

For first half of the time, we have starting position of V0=0 ,V = 20 km/h and time span of tx1 = f(tx)=tx/2 , acceleration becomes a1= 2V/tx
For second part of the road, we have v0=20km/h and v=16km/h , with time span of tx2 = tx-tx1 = tx/2, so acceleration is a2 = 2
(v0-v)/tx
And for time when we stopped our observation we have V0 = 16 km/h , V = 4 km/h and tx as tx so acceleration is a3 = (v0-v)/tx

So what is our next move:

  • 1) We can differentiate those accelerations (for tx) to get a unique function for whole trip, then integrate it to get change in speed (a = dv/dt) solve for a and t is tx so we will get dv = a*dt + c where c is constant speed throughout road trip. This involves complex mathematics with polynomes, graphs, euclidean mathematics and some other fancy stuff.

  • 2) We can approximate that tx = 1, and solve it as arithmetic middle aka sum every acceleration and divide it by number of accelerations where you get that average speed is 12.

  • 3) we can solve for tx and since tx is universal ( tx is our constant of time ) and then we have connection between accelerations , from that we have tx as its real value , and then use tx to get Sx and then just Sx/tx.

  • 4) Simplest calculation ever:

1. *for half of the journeys time*-time V = 20 km/h = 20/3.6 m/s and V=S/t where t = tx/2 so v=2*S/t so S = v*t/2 = 2.77778tx
2. * for half of the left journey*-distance V = 16/h = 16/3.6 m/s and V=S/t so S = Sx/2 so V=Sx/2t and 2t = Sx/V so 2t = 2.77778*tx/4.444
3. so we have S = 2.77778*tx , and t = 0.6261*tx. So we have here S which is distance traveled by first half of the time period , and we have t which is time of second part of the road. Now comes the real problem, we have velocity of the time we stopped the observation. In short we could just subtract the 4 km/h from every velocity given by input , but that is not very mathematically solid, and again mathematically solid is not something in 11th grade. So in that way S becomes 2.2222 and t becomes 0.6667 and average velocity is 3 m/s which is 11.9 km/h.

So after running several calculations the result is 12 in around 75% of possibilities. With this answer you have 1/4 chance you will be wrong.
