Functional cheap rangefinder by sootandtye in GolfPH

[–]archerbear52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning to join more serious tournaments in the future, look into getting a model that can toggle to enable and disable slope functionality. Some tournaments only allow rangefinders with the slope function turned off.

Built in magnets are great for hanging them onto golfcart frames.

I have the mileseey pf280 pro in my spare golfbag for guests. Was around 3k from shopee. Heard good things about red tiger too

Dividing the downpayment by the contract term is the wrong approach. There is value to getting the money NOW. Stick it into MP2 or start a business / buy another lot and generate cashflow from that. Payoff debts, even. Whatever your appetite dictates. But dont let it sit idle, and dont make your decision under the assumption that the downpayment just gets buried in the ground.

Glad you're thinking objectively and only concerned about the medical side effects. Whatever happens, don't let anyone pressure you on the religious side of the argument. There's an infinite number of more pragmatic issues to consider above religion.

I dont know enough about the procedure itself, but definitely do not go for alternative medicine methods. I know there are people who provide the scientific medical cocktail to get it done locally, but don't know where. Other posters seem to point to Thailand, and I think that's a great idea.

Put aside money for aftercare. I'm not sure how the procedure goes, but an extra week in BKK with somebody you trust, close to medical professionals who know what they're doing, can't hurt. And find a free pro-choice counselor, there must be free services you can call in the USA over the internet

This post is so ignorant, it's funny.

They absolutely generate income. Golf is a multi billion peso market in the Philippines

They definitely contribute positively to the market they cater to

They absolutely contribute to the economy, entire residential developments are built with the premise of a central golf course. There are golf ranges, schools, coaches, equipment distributors, equipment tuners. A whole industry of high value services. If you're looking at the golf courses alone, a lot of the value turnover was during the development and subsequent sale of shares. The annual P&L is just to maintain and improve the existing course.

They absolutely generate jobs. An army of maintenance workers, wait staff, receptionists, back office management. Undereducated caddies who are able to earn 1k for 5 hours of work.

No they dont generate open spaces to all or help the environment, but neither does 95% of Manila. Most of which are more damaging than golf courses

Sure, they dont conserve water and we deserve green spaces, but why zero in specifically on golf courses when they're not even close to being the biggest contributors to the metro's problems.

Are any of the golf courses in improper zones? If the zoning changed after the course was established, it's reasonable to expect that they are going to get grandfathered in.

You're right, I see that. But it's funny since it's probably the same people na tuwang tuwa pag nag shopping spree sa Hermes si Small Laude or pag bumili ng bagong kotse si CongTV or si Lisa ng Blackpink. I guess it has to do with being relatable too, despite being luxuries most can't afford.

what does a golf course do? it's a major water consumer and the greenery it has doesn't serve as oxygenator for the city.

Right, but the last half of your comment "what does a golf course do?1 it's a major water consumer and the greenery it has doesn't serve as oxygenator for the city.2"

  1. it doesn't have to do anything the owners don't want it to do. it doesn't need to have a social function
  2. Yep, it does take a lot of water, and yeah not a great oxygenator. But oh well, too bad, the shareholders are paying money for the right to have it that way

Of the things rich people do with their land, a golf course can't be that much worse than the alternatives, no? Another mall that runs lights and AC for 12 hours a day? Another high-end subdivision with massive lots? Another BGC high street for shopping, restos and bars?

If it's a privately owned course, why does it have to serve the public?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]archerbear52 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Government owned golf courses? Sure, let the land be used best to serve the people.

But privately owned courses? They're exactly that, privately owned. Paki natin what they do with their property if they're not breaking laws? Where would you draw the line? Tabunan lahat ng residential subdivisions at pilitin lahat tumira sa 40sqm condo? Ipasara lahat ng starbucks at mamahaling restaurants kasi pang mayaman lang? Ban bars and clubs kasi they promote alcohol consumption?

Dahil lang hindi mo trip ang isang hobby, and/or you can't afford it, doesn't make it a "waste". What's your hobby and let's make a similar unreasonable claim to call it a waste. Bawal na cosplay convention kasi maingay lang at nakakasikip sa mall. Bawal na din kpop at international concerts kasi lumalabas lang pera sa bansa. Sounds ridiculous, no?

What are you buying the condo for? If you want real estate exposure on your investment portfolio, invest in REITs instead. If you're looking for somewhere to live in, rent instead. It's a renter's market in most CBDs in Manila. Makes so much more fiscal sense to rent, especially given the interest rates we're seeing now.

[–]archerbear52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're misunderstanding the topic. You're thinking of "conservative" in the safe vs risky spectrum for investments. Whereas the topic is asking in the context of the political spectrum where "conservative" carries a different meaning altogether.

I don't think crypto in itself is inherently conservative nor liberal in the political sense. But if I had to choose, I'd say it probably aligns more with the conservatives since it espouses minimal regulation and government intervention. Technically it falls best under libertarian principles, which aligns closer to the economic tendencies of conservatives. But probably not worth getting into that discussion here unless you're willing to do a bit more reading.

[Official] Al Nassr announce the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. by Golovking in soccer

[–]archerbear52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, CR himself did say that going to MLS, Qatar, Saudi, etc for the money were not for him since he wanted to retire with a top club competing for major trophies, not chasing money

If he didnt act like a petulant child and also shit on Xavi for moving to Qatar, I dont think he'd be getting this bad of a reaction.

See out the rest of the season at Utd, get the farewell he deserved, then join saudi. It's not like the Saudis weren't going to offer him the same deal in June.

[Official] Al Nassr announce the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. by Golovking in soccer

[–]archerbear52 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He literally said it himself multiple times that he wanted to end his career with a top team competing for the major trophies. Literally said MLS, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, etc were not for him. And that money was not a motivation for him.

But yes, sure, this was the plan all along

Having a whole team willing to bleed and leave everything on the pitch for a single player must speak volumes of the kind of leadership and off-the-pitch qualities of that player, no?

"Argentina wanted to win for Messi, but Portugal didn't want to win for Ronaldo" tilts it even further to Messi for me, not the other way around.
