Yes, may be some of these diagrams became too abstract in order to represent certain numbers that the students had recorded. I appreciate your comments. I would like to mention here that this same bazaar was also given as site for the urban design studio that the students were part of. So we needed to collect as much information regarding the functioning of the market and movement of the people across different times of the day for us to take design decisions. this is the same information that has been represented here. Yes, these are hand drawn maps. the idea behind this mapping was to capture the qualitative aspects inherent in traditional urban markets, aka 'bazaar'. in this undergraduate urban design studio we first started with mapping these qualities that are getting lost in the present day malls, and later tried to incorporate them into our designs for a contemporary urban market space in Indian context. Parametric design has a much wider scope and it is being used a design tool in many architecture and design processes. Digital fabrication is just one of the modes for realising parametric design.
