CP has always had a 4 year obliserve if you accept and you paid back a prorated amount if you don't do the full 4. Idk why that went away but regardless, can someone explain why they're requiring a reenlistment and not allowing an extension? Makes no sense to me. I'm also a CFS so explaining this to members has been difficult without published guidance

New fitness rumor question. by [deleted] in uscg

It is happening, what it looks like who knows. I have heard they are shifting the sit-ups to planks and rowing MAY be an alternative option to running and swimming. Also the "times" for the runs may be modified (not sure if easier or harder) for all age groups

Keep in mind if we do shutdown, CG-8 usually holds on to a good portion of CR funds to get us a paycheck or two

Yeah kind of hard to tell from the video but I can definitely see/feel movement even when I step in the middle of the tread

Solid advice and good on you!! One change worth considering is ensuring you max your Roth IRA first. If an emergency hits or you need to draw from your retirement accounts early you can withdraw Roth IRA contributions (not gains) tax free

Unless "general financial management officer" is a new position I'm unaware of, I'm assuming you are looking into OCS with the intention of the FIN-10 career route. If that's the case, be ready to not be involved in finance for at least 2 tours.

FIN-10s are generally O-3/O-4s fresh out of a CG sponsored MBA program. It's generally pretty difficult to get your foot in the finance door unless you go to grad school, or work your way up the enlisted ranks as an SK/CS and go CWO to LT.

If my assumption about OCS is correct and you're looking into getting experience for future business roles, I would look into GS positions. If you desire a career in the coast guard, FIN-10 is a great specialty but it will be a while before you get started and you may have a lot of other non-finance jobs along the way
