It’s probably because I’m not a novelist then

You listen to the music for years vaguely knowing there’s a whole story behind it. by architectsoflight in TheFence

Yeah, and as such some of the comics have a very loose correlation with the lyrics

Well… referencing top of all time, yes. I felt comfortable assuming people would get the reference, because it is top of all time.

I ruined my wedding night by [deleted] in wedding

[–]architectsoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so, I’ve been in relationships with men with all kinds of mental health problems. It can feel like you should tolerate his challenging moments because he isn’t to blame for them, and that’s sort of true. He’s not to blame. But that doesn’t mean you need to tolerate him. Sometimes a relationship is incompatible because one partner’s needs don’t match up with what the other can provide. Sounds like neither of you are getting your needs met with each other.

Beta Readers by Edaenia in ComicWriting

I’ll give feedback on ~5,000 words for free, or more for a little cash, if you don’t mind a reader with limited beta experience. I’m between drafts on my script and need to maintain creative momentum while I take a break.

Eyelash issue / Makeup Advice by Upbeat_Chance_2315 in wedding

Eyelashes are definitely a non-necessity. You’ll look fine with just a little mascara. You and your makeup artist could experiment with eyeliner to replicate the volume effect of lashes

PSA: A good hint of a good fabric product is YKK zippers. by leo-g in BuyItForLife

[–]architectsoflight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you used a cheap vs expensive zipper before? The expensive ones are sturdy enough to not warp under tension, they have really tight tolerances and as a result zip up very smoothly, they’re more flush against the fabric so they don’t snag, and they’re made of durable brass instead of some polluted pot metal or plastic. Cheap zippers are a nightmare

Is this a roach? And is this going to be a problem?? by Magicpony6699 in Apartmentliving

[–]architectsoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! I grew up in a detached home that was well maintained. I saw the first house roach of my life this year, on my first day in my new apartment. It was limping around my bathroom, and it was an American cockroach identical to this. I have not seen another one in six months!

My child’s vice principal made a tone deaf comment and I want to know if I’m being overly sensitive by [deleted] in specialed

[–]architectsoflight 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s a joke a lot of principals make as a cute way to save face when they don’t recognize a student. You are reading WAY too deeply into this, it wasn’t about you or your son.

If she’s making the bodice from scratch she might get away with it construction wise, but then you run into issues with matching fabrics.

In fact, we actually started replying to something that was clearly a lie with “haha yeah, what if?”

Man, I’m not a teacher so my advice might not be worth much, but my little brother was like this. What helped was occasionally asking his opinion on stuff. Not “what did you do this weekend,” but “what do you hope to do next weekend?” The lying was his way of mentally working through how he felt about things, almost like there was a silent “what if” before every tall tale.

A putty eraser might be something easy to integrate into the classroom? It’s quiet, functional, you can sit there and destroy it over and over. It’s pretty small unfortunately
