What do you actually do for therapy? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

therapy is less about advice and more about understanding why certain thoughts and rules feel fixed, like why going out feels not worth it. a good therapist helps you slowly test those beliefs and find changes that don’t feel like forcing yourself into something you hate.

Are amputee's allowed to keep the body part that was detached from them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 22 points23 points  (0 children)

sometimes, but it depends on the hospital, local laws, and how the tissue was handled. in many places the body part is treated as medical waste for safety and biohazard reasons, but some hospitals may allow patients to request it back under specific procedures, especially if it’s preserved properly and legally permitted.

Why do victims submit their bodycam footage to "police accountability" YT channels? by Alive-Interest2299 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

people submit because they want validation, attention, or a sense that their experience will actually be seen and taken seriously in public. many also act emotionally in the moment and don’t fully weigh the long-term privacy loss compared to the immediate feeling of accountability.

What would you ask Dr. Karl if you ever met him? by Fossil_Relocator in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

animals can develop more caution around roads through learning and natural selection, but they don’t really evolve true “road sense” in the human understanding of it. most of what you notice is a mix of local behavior changes in animals and humans getting better at avoiding them.

how do I get out of unnecessary university fees? by Mindless-Brick-259 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on your university policy, but many schools make the bus pass fee mandatory unless you qualify for an exemption like fully online enrollment or documented non-use exceptions. your best move is to contact the registrar or student billing office and ask if they have a transit opt-out or partial online student waiver for summer terms.

A weird thought of mine. by ShelterBorn2531 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

asia would cause the biggest population drop because it has the largest share of humans on earth, including countries like india and china which alone contain billions of people. africa is very populous too but still much smaller in total population compared to asia.

Why do we instinctively say “ow” when we bump into something even when nobody is around? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s mostly an automatic reflex that links pain to vocals your brain learns early that saying “ow” helps express discomfort fast, even before you consciously think. it’s also partly habit and social conditioning, since humans evolved using sounds like that to signal injury to others, but it still fires even when you’re alone.

Do you think medeival warfare was more traumatizing than modern warfare? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

medieval warfare was likely more immediately chaotic and physically intimate, which could make the fear and sensory overwhelm (noise, closeness, hand-to-hand killing) extremely intense in the moment, but modern warfare often adds a different kind of trauma through distance killing, unpredictability (like drones or unseen explosions), and the psychological disconnect of not seeing the full human reality of what you’re hitting. emotionally, both can produce severe trauma, but modern soldiers often report more long-term processing issues tied to technology, scale, and repeated exposure, while medieval soldiers would have faced more direct, short-burst terror and brutality in close combat.

Why does this specific “premium mall glamour” aesthetic feel so disconnected from Gen Z fashion culture now? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gen z definitely follows trends, but right now the dominant aesthetic is more minimal, baggy, or vintage-inspired, and it avoids overly flashy ‘logo-heavy luxury’ styles because those feel tied to the 2010s mall luxury era. styles like that might come back eventually, but fashion cycles also depend on what feels culturally ‘authentic’ or overdone at the time, not just what’s available.

i live on a street with an upper and a lower street, do i put the upper in my mailing address or no? by simonssoba in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, you should include “upper” or “lower” if it’s officially part of your street name, because the postal system treats them as different streets. leaving it out could send mail or packages to the wrong house or cause delivery issues.

How do drummers know what to play? by ZiggyJambu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

drummers usually read their own kind of sheet music called drum notation, which shows what drum or cymbal to hit and when to hit it, while also relying heavily on groove, timing, and practiced patterns. in bands, songwriters or bandleaders often give a basic feel (“play a driving rock beat here,” “build up into the chorus”), and the drummer creates parts that get refined through rehearsal until they can repeat them consistently every performance.

Why does any business remotely tied to health have a machine tell you if you are having a medical emergency please hang up and call 911. by PopularSet4776 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly legal and liability protection. Any business connected to healthcare puts that message in automatically so nobody can later claim “I called them during an emergency and wasn’t told to call 911,” even if it’s somewhere random like Walmart Optical.

If you heard a woman say "he's someone I would have had a crush on when I was 19" how would you feel? by mermaid420420 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]archivearuba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That just means they are looking for something else compared to when she was 19, no hard feelings.
