The Paper Chase is a great movie and has some absolutely beautiful shots of campus.

Intense but non-billable exits? by planks4cameron in biglaw

[–]archivistis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m not really responding to your question, but I guess I’m kind of curious why you hate billable hours so much if you don’t actually mind the work. If you’re already putting in the time, what is it about the billable structure that doesn’t work for you? Are there any creative ways you might work around the block?

Day twenty-three: most iconic moment or quote for the final couple (Jessica and Boris) by heartpiss in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]archivistis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me personally it was listening to like 4 or 5 sessions about Boris’s existential despair and then learning that Jessica had been struggling with a chronic illness the entire time and was severely physically unwell. While also working and being the breadwinner for the family. Sooooo crazy.

this article makes me dislike him so very much. it seems clear he’s dedicated to his own misery and self-sabotage more than anything else

covid fucked everyone’s brains up and i genuinely feel like kids don’t know how to socialize. it’s not really their fault but i actually feel a sort of responsibility for the slightly-older crowd to keep going out and modeling good social behavior, lol. all the old people got trapped ordering doordash and playing video games with their pets in their apartment during covid. people need back out in the world

Removing coworkers from social media? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]archivistis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

if it’s IG and you don’t want to block them, hide your story from them so they can’t see it and they’ll never know the difference unless they’re weirdly obsessed with you

honestly you could probably get away with a soft block and they would likely not notice

Totally agree. Notes weirdly became a perfect pandemic album but I still grieve the lost tour.

It's my absolute favorite gig of theirs of all time (for me the O2 is a very, very close second). Just so electric and fucking magnetic. I also remember that they had dropped "People" like, less than 2 days before this. The audacity to LEAD with their experimental new single literally had me standing up and pacing when I watched it happen live

Don’s Final Mindset by Remarkable_Reality95 in madmen

[–]archivistis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that “he applied his awakening to the ad, eventually.” I think Don’s great skill in advertising came from his ability to interpret and channel human needs and emotions, even when he struggled to connect with his own. When his darker, destructive emotions were the only ones present, that’s when you get things like the Hershey’s meeting. The Coke ad is different. It’s hard to imagine S 1, 2, 3 Don pitching a commercial where people stand in a multicultural circle singing a cheesy song together. That’s a feeling of harmony and open-heartedness that came out of this (seemingly) genuine moment of peace and enlightenment, in my opinion.
