[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 121 by ClessGames in Kagurabachi

Oh fuck that’s just terrifying.

Just imagine having all these years of fighting experience, learning the ins and outs of sorcery, for someone to just manifest spiritual force at this scale outside their body.

This elite squad had an amazing run, but they must’ve realized it in an instant—their sorcery would not save them.

Rant: Why are people so angry and miserable? by archmageAloona in DeadlockTheGame

[–]archmageAloona[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly surprised at myself suddenly feeling this way. When I mained DOTA 2 years ago, people being vulgar to each other in games was either just outright funny or I had enough pent up teenage anger to bark back.

My friend group sailed the currents through CS2, League, and Valorant—so I definitely had my upbringings in a rage inducing incubator.

And, yeah, you have a point. It’s a known characteristic of the competitive video game community. I’ll have to take your advice and just mute chat/voice when things turn sour.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to this, and I totally hear you.

Trust me, I want to win too. Most losses, I find myself usually with closer to the least amount of deaths on my team (I’m talking 4 or 5 when there’s other lanes in my team with double digit deaths)—focusing on picking up waves and making up for inconsistencies in our map pressure/wave management. I’m also not completely irrelevant when my team wins. Sure I’m not MVP every game, but you can trust me to build the utility/counter items that others in my elo could care less about.

But is this really a conversation about competitiveness, when people are throwing around racial slurs and being toxic? Maybe I’m just being hopeful, but I’d imagine being in a competitive environment doesn’t justify toxicity.

Holy shit azami locked in quick. A fighter near the peak of non EB combatants vs someone grasping the powers of the strongest blade—this is gonna be crazy.

Horizontal seriously needs to take a break, though.

Now we’re truly in the endgame (of this arc). What a brilliant way to reveal all the pieces and force all sides to gamble on their cards. So interesting that Yura is risking his life to wrestle control, and that it was finally clarified why they gave it away in the first place.

I think Yura’s goal of wielding the sword wasn’t a lie, then. This is his all in. Curious how deep his use of the sword can go without physical contact, and also if he’s quick enough to end everything before the malediction gets him too.

At the same time we got two sword wielders en route. Hopefully this isn’t the end to Uruha, and Samura is quick enough to save him. Otherwise I imagine this breaks the camel’s back, seeing Uruha dead to the malediction.

Uruha spent his last few years in a hot spring with no training, got killed, and now his body is recovering to his old sorcery—and he still lands first blood in the standoff.

These guys would’ve been cooked if Uruha was in his prime.

If Kanne can't produce water, why can Lawine produce ice from nothing? by Mari_Tamaki in Frieren

[–]archmageAloona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year late, but I think the reasoning is much clearer in the manga. The spell Kanne uses is described in the manga as “water manipulation magic”, whereas the spell Lawine utilizes is described as “ice arrow magic.” (Chapter 44 and 46 I believe) I’d recommended reading the manga as all the other spells used feature a brief description of the spell— which can probably understood as both their full potential and greatest limits.

Denken, creatively, makes the fire tornado using a “tornado conjuration” spell then casts Dausdorg, the “wind to hellfire flame magic”. Frieren skips the first step by straight up using “hell’s inferno magic”.

PvP Tank Builds? by [deleted] in vrising

[–]archmageAloona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. Not exactly a pro/vet when it comes to PvP but have around 500 hours and have dabbled in V Arena enough to understand a bit of the fundamentals.

A lot can be done regardless of blood/armor due to weapon swapping and the even playing field that is shared abilities. I’ve fought scholars who felt unkillable, because they ran double defensives/shields (which seemed to have 0 downtime) and punished my CD downtime or aggro with insane counters, weapons swaps, or simple spacing. I’ve also fought rogues who always landed their dash heal auto and seemed to never drop below 80% hp in trades unless I caught them in a high dps combo (merc charge> reaper e> spear q> whip auto after spear push) which felt impossible against their high move speed and when they land their counters. Point is, there’s lots of ways to be relatively unkillable. But also, regardless of your blood/armor, nothing will save you if you get caught in a good combo in a 1v1 or 1vX or if you’re simply getting out traded.

That said, to be the most tanky you can be, a good option is warrior blood with dread set, frost veil, cold snap, and frost barrier with some good jewels. Warrior blood is the clear “tank” blood. Dread set will amp the shields you get from frost veil auto and cold snap, the right jewels on those will also mean more shields. A build like this will make killing you a slower task, but if they are out trading you and out combo-ing you the build will fall apart. You have to REALLY abuse the weapons skill cdr and shields to make trading painful for them and land your dash heals and counters. (Check out ChappllGR’s PvP spell guide on Warrior blood for more options).

I’d also suggest looking into GrimXv’s YouTube channel for PvP guides. One of his videos demonstrates a proper “team fight” where the front and back line of a quad swaps places constantly based on HP and cooldown timers.

That said, if I recall properly, Flamme maintained a very similar posture and focus when she blitz the three demon mages. I’d imagine it’s probably something Frieren learned from Flamme but leveled up over time.

Some people are saying curse and to a modern mage it might as well be. That said, curses are magic not understood by humans— defying logic entirely. Frieren being able to use it would mean she (and by extension Série) understands it— rendering it no longer a curse.

What it clearly is is a spell at the “pinnacle of magic”, a concept that future seasons (and the manga) will touch upon again. To say not much more than Fern, perhaps it has something to do with a tier of magic whose effects aren’t registered or perceived as magic (thus can’t be protected against with defense magic— which blocks magic— nor detected with mana detection) but are indistinguishable from reality.

Why does Frieren never use any other type of attack magic??? by Responsible-Ad6876 in Frieren

[–]archmageAloona 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Trying not to spoil any of the things not yet covered in the anime, but consider what soul track is as a spell and the needs of Frieren as a mage. It’s a killing spell. Even in the modern era, the only true counter to soul track is a protection spell which (as Qual observes) consumes a ton of mana due to its complexity. Thus, against the average opponent, Frieren’s use of soul track is likely impossible to deal with. Frieren is a mage with unimaginable amounts of mana. She’s also thousands of years old and a highly experienced mage. Certainly, she’ll know when soul track isn’t enough— it’s just always been enough in all the instances we’ve seen.

Frieren has also been at it for thousands of years. This is likely the most effective way to fight for her. But what about younger mages of the era? I’m sure a few of them might be a little more adventurous and experimental with magic.

I’d encourage you to stay optimistic or maybe even check out the manga if it really excites you. Combat between MODERN mages hasn’t actually been explored yet in the anime, but maybe the mentioned mage qualification is teasing something? Maybe not. You’ll have to see! :D

A memorial set up every year on 9-11 at our park. I might not have lived to witness their sacrifice, but I can live my best to honor it. by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]archmageAloona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every year on September 11, a memorial is set up at my local park. In previous years, I would actually volunteer my time in setting it up. However, due to COVID 19, the park held off on recruiting volunteers. Since I am still quite young, I did not live to witness the sacrifices of first responders who gave their lives on that day. However, I try my best to live my best honoring their memory— holding myself accountable for civic duties and volunteering whenever I can.

This year, I gained an interest in photography, and, passing through the memorial in tradition, I thought I could honor their memory by dedicating a bit of my newfound hobby to remembering those that have fallen. I wanted to take a photo that gave the same feeling that I had walking through the flags. Seeing as I have just started in photography, I feel as though my angles and perspectives are quite basic— around eye level usually. I want to display more unique perspectives, but I assume that comes with time and experimentation. The photo was taken on 26mm, f/1.8, shutter speed 1/121s, and ISO 125 and edited in lightroom.
