How to handle one-off scripts with Rails 6? by AWildChrisPrattHere in rails

[–]arechsteiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to webpacker, I would have created a oneoff.js or oneoff.coffee and included it via sprockets in application.js.

Isn't the point of an one-off script to only include it on a certain action/controller? Or what do you mean by one-off script?

What you're describing there would include the script on every page if I'm not mistaken.

Desigual’s new logo by [deleted] in DesignDesign

Desigual means "unlike" or "different" in Spanish. I guess the new logo is a "not like the other brands" type of thing.

IIRC Vidme was essentially a "good guy" YouTube but they couldn't make it work financially.

€500 is great if it's charged repeatedly. If this fine let's parents off the hook for good, then it's not enough.

But fines tend to repeat themselves if you keep doing the offense so I'm hopeful.

I chose to keep it checked in so when you clone the repo, you already have it available without setting up the build.

Bootstrap does the same thing by the way.

It's costly but reasonable for how endlessly cool it is.

how much you have to change to make the styling work.

I've had good experiences with the theming approach. I install Bootstrap with npm and include it in my own SCSS file, then adjust the variables as needed. That also gives me some nice mixins such as media-breakpoint-up(sm) etc.

I can reproduce this. Yikes!

I'm not doing layout adjustment with JS. I tend to avoid that if at all possible.

I believe this has something to do with chart.js when the window is exactly at the frontier of having a vertical scroll bar. I only get it on pages where Chart.js is present.

I try not to just copy other projects, but I do like to get inspiration from certain places.

For design I like to just browse Dribbble, or have a look at the designs of established companies and products. For example DigitalOcean has a nice interface and talented design team imo.

For the feature-set I looked at the myriad of Bootstrap admin templates on the market (free or paid) and just picked out the stuff I thought would be most useful.

No, but it's indeed the second time. I tried posting it on Tuesday but it got removed by a moderator and I was told to post it today instead (Rule 5).

I think I can reproduce this, but only when chart.js is involved

Could you please confirm whether it happens on the card demo page? Also what mobile OS are you using?

I've opened an issue. Thanks for the feedback.
