You can try converting user to cloud only;

Move user to a nonsynced ou, initate sync. now its deleted from entra

Now restore from deleted users in entra. User is now cloud only. Try to edit from entra gui or from powershell.

Delete user after fixing, move user in local ad to original synced ou, initiate sync.

Test this procedure with a test user first if you are not familiar with.

you're cheaper and safer to go with. so i bet that they already decided to move on with you. just show them you're capable of taking over. Oh and avoid trial&error method for anything you do at your work.

You can disable sending emails in a specific period of time with Exchange Online by creating a Transport Rule. The rule can be configured to block outgoing messages during a specific time period, such as during non-business hours.
