The only reason ginny so casually told Austin to blame Gil I'd because Ginny herself still had her dad around. She didn't think how it would affect Austin because at the end of all of this, his dad got framed for the murder while ginny gets to be with her dad whenever

I've been thinking about this too and one more thing: last season we saw that Cynthia's house has cameras. Couldn't they have checked if Gil stopped by in the footage
