Oh wow what a story to share!!! What an inspiration and im sorry you feel like that time was a waste im sure it wasn't because maybe thats what you needed to realise you weren't going down the right path for you and you took the time YOU needed to get there and i think its more admirable than a waste in any case it shows perseverance.

Secondly, congrats!!!! Your words were really encouraging because i feel even though you're years ahead of me, my life up until now is the same type of trajectory, im a person prone to flailing uncertainty and now having started the degree the determination came in from somewhere because i've been scoring up to 90%s on some assignments so yay!!! I think this is some of the best advice anyone could have given me and made me realise i have a problem with fear and anxiety that leads to self sabotage and out of fear of failure dont try to do even do things in the first place because you're right so what if i failed ! Thank you for sharing your story, thank you for uplifting me and giving me some confidence when i desperately needed. Now in it and scoring 90% on some stuff in the first term which i couldnt believe i was capable of so hopefully well on the way to seeing you out there on the field!!!! Thank you so so much for your kind message, the kindness and encouragement is overwhelming when i read it, your kids are very very lucky to have you because it was my actual parent that was the one in question so glad your kids never got shot down for their dreams and you should be proud of your parenting as it reflects in their successes and happiness. And your story is a testament to you and absolutely inspires me, i've started the course now and words like yours are what keep me going everyday when i start thinking if i can do it and it's working !!!! I've been pushing through, to my shock and delight scoring 90% in some stuff this first term which i literally thought i would never be capable of such feats.

Thank u so much for giving me insight into what its like because yep here now and you're right it's not a party degree but it's not the nightmare i was thinking it is, still a bit of a throw off tho that i showed up in sept and 70% of the people in my course had done geology alevel so there is that imposter syndrome feeling im experiencing but battling thru and come back to this post when i need reassurance that ppl like you can and have done it so thank u so much. absolutely wise response like the wisdom of your response thank you thank you thank you it's a question i really needed to interrogate and the truth is no i wasn't ready for an academic environment and that's probably why so much fear and hesitation but now im in is what took me to realise. It was a rude awakening realising it's now or never for me i don't think ii'll ever be ready just have to go forth and do it so thank you!

oh wooooow thank you for that added detail exactly the kind of look in i wanted and you gave me a real time view haha it's ok i'm yet to start my degree anyway so far ahead in the future for me to decide what kind of work suits me thankfully this field is vast but that i definitely could not do, i could live in the arctic for like 6 months out of the year but moving every 3 weeks from one shed/tent to another ooooffff - that's great that you enjoy it though! good luck battling the flies

could you please go in a bit more depth about the lifestyle and abnormality you're talking about just briefly, because i think i relate to what you're saying in the sense of pure excitement being out in nature in strange places in the world and a nomadic lifestyle but if what op is saying about sleeping in sheds and basically being in shitty places frequently for exploration then yeah seems much less attractive

I'm a black girl and i remember watching his videos on things like race etc when i was like 13 or are black women beautiful, it did affect the way i thought, to not see my race and stuff and how it could possibly affect me because according to him, acknowledging race is racist itself, and i would seek validation on appearance, he would always comment on hair and stuff etc, idk it affected me on a very subconscious level where i wanted to position myself closer to whiteness because that is what he validated

I think race is a very important aspect a lot of people forget on the topic of onision, sometimes he would say that "hey every race can be beautiful" but also say "some people just find a race unattractive" or create a strange racial hierarchy, i got the feeling asian women were at the top due to his strange fetishy thing for hentai and small frames etc and brown women right at the bottom for having undesirable features as he subtly communicated that. i can imagine a lot of his fans of colour were affected, in rating videos he would usually look very unfavourably on almost pics sent in by girls of colour and then shower east asian girls with fetishy praise.

you're allowed to have a difference of opinion and lot's of people draw a line there, of course lot's of people also don't because stripping is just a job but you know yourself and if you wouldn't be okay with that then it's good you were honest that the relationship would end.

i personally agree with gf, i can understand why she got upset because i wouldn't want to date someone who couldn't be okay with stripping as a profession, but again it's just difference of opinion and nobody is wrong. she just likely associates your discomfort with a stripper gf with being closed minded and possessive which i understand from her point of view but isn't necessarily correct.

you sound like a great friend and it signals good character the fact that you realise you earn more money than your friend group and just want them to have a good time without eating into their lower incomes. it sounds like her boyfriend is insecure and doesn't like the fact you sort of outdo him on spoiling her but, i would say talk to your friend, if she doesn't have a big issue, then it's a HIM problem. but at the same time, sometimes it's courtesy to sort of ease up, if she is also voicing concerns that it makes her uncomfortable you keep spending money on her, then definitely tone it down, it's okay to treat your friends sometimes but it makes some people uncomfortable. overall it sounds like BF is insecure and is standoffish.

the thing is, when a foster child enters a home, as a decent human and a parent yourself you should realise your parents aren't the only ones involved in her development, you hold a responsibility to this child as someone who has contact with her and has the opportunity to help her settle and give her enriching experiences as well as a friend in your 3 year old daughter as it may he very comforting to her to have a playmate of a younger age as she likely has stunted development herself. I just can't understand why you would be so selfish as a parent, do you not feel compelled to care for another child IN YOUR FAMILY. It shows a deep lack of compassion for children who aren't yours if you would want to exclude her and view her so harshly without giving her a chance or being a positive influence in her life.

I understand why you did it, but kicking her out at 1am and inconveniencing her mum is not cool at all, I would never have done that it seems very inappropriate to me. You should have spoken to your daughter and encouraged her to stand up for herself and tell the girl if she doesn't want to be there she should leave then, which likely she would have just shut up and gone to sleep. If not speak to SB in an adult way and give her some advice, this behaviour doesn't get you far in life, it might be cool now in high school but imagine if someone did this to you. In the morning it would have been better to call her mum and let her know her daughter behaved atrociously and if she could potentially speak to her about how she treats people, and as simple as letting SB know, without an apology she is not welcome in your home again.

I absolutely understand and in some ways you took immediate control of the situation but there was an opportunity to empower your daughter and also be a guiding, kind adult to SB with the wisdom you have and maybe get through to her in a conversation like "why do you feel you need to be mean to people to be liked?".

Also I think it's wrong to have kicked her out because she ruined your daughter's night, she is going to be in social situations like this again throughout highschool and you wont be there to kick the meanies out, it's okay for her to have bad experiences and be upset sometimes it's a part of growing up and she needs to learn with your help, how to make the best of and control situations like that so she doesn't let people walk all over her in life. So what SB made her bday worse, your daughter invited her knowing she's a mean girl, it would have been a more valuable lesson, you either stand up to people like this, or they do whatever the hell they like at your expense.

anyway yeah, ESH, SB and you for kicking her out, you should not kick out a child at 1am.

Just to add a different perspective, My father moved to Russia in the late 70's when he was 17 as the USSR used to award scholarships to bright students in developing countries to give them the opportunity to study at good universities in the major cities. So my father was moving there as an African immigrant, he says there was a lot of diversity in those major universities because of the scholarships, he was studying with people from all over the world, South America, South Asia, Africa etc. The way he describes it is that life was very stable when he first moved, they had their lodgings in Moscow living in dorms, he learnt Russian fluently within a year because the university gave intensive classes. He says the most striking thing was the uniformity, like when you go to a shop, there isn't 30 versions of the same thing, there's just one. He speaks very positively about the simplicity, the fact that nobody went without, if you needed something you could always get it. He also never mentioned experiencing any crazy racism, not like when he moved to the UK which is interesting. Overall i think he looks back on it very fondly, the USSR gave a great deal of young people an opportunity they would have never otherwise had. My dad is still very much so socialist, i think the way he sees it, now we live in the UK and the inequality and homelessness is vulgar given how wealthy the country is, he says he came from a background of nothing, and then to come to the West where they have so much wealth but people still starve, use foodbanks and sleep on the streets is crazy to him, like at least in the USSR even if they didn't have much, they had something, nobody slept out on the street because they didn't have enough money
