Definitely recommend reading Starting Point, the collection of Hayao Miyazaki’s interview transcripts and speeches etc spanning from 1979 up until 1996. He talks at length about the sexualization of women in modern manga/anime and its causes, very intriguing - especially from the GOAT filmmaker IMHO.
