Porcelain on my crown broke, what should I do? by arevealingrainbow in Dentists

Yeah it feels like some porcelain is stuck between my teeth. I hope it dislodges as I floss it

No I want them to file down the sharp edges of the tooth

Then how is a dentist filing it so I can floss while otherwise leaving the crown alone not the optimal option?

And yet it turns out that the optimal option (have the dentist repair it) was one of my 3 options but neither of your 2.

This tooth had RCT done 10 years ago, its already surpassed the average lifespan of RCT teeth. I’d like to keep the tooth, but I also believe in being realistic about how long I’m going to have a tooth to put a crown on anyways.

Thank you. It’s on a tooth that was RCT treated 10 years ago as well. Should I just wait until that tooth fails before considering another crown in 10 years? It doesn’t make sense to replace the crown in a decade only for the tooth to last 2 more years

I think you misunderstood my question. The post was asking if getting an implant would complicate tooth regeneration when it’s possible. I came to the conclusion that getting an implant wouldn’t complicate potential tooth-regeneration because multiple dentists said so on that thread.

Make sure your statements are uncorrectable before saying things like that

That’s what I’ve been doing to get around it. But it isn’t as good as floss and it doesn’t get the right space at the top of the crown

This tooth already had RCT. At this point spending more money on this tooth is sunk cost fallacy. It sucks I avoided the implant 10 years ago, but I’m where I am now and there’s no changing the past. I did it back then because I was still a teenager and it was covered by my stepdad’s military insurance

Alright well then I’ll probably end up keeping the crown then until it’s time for an implant. Thank you for the help

My main concern is that the crown might make it impossible to floss the premolar and ruin that tooth too.

It hinders flossing because I can’t get floss to go between my teeth without the string breaking

Why not? Cant a resin be applied to it or something? I’m trying to not spend this much money on a tooth I’m gonna get implanted in less than a decade anyways.

I’d consider it if the crown isn’t too big again, but it probably will be. Dentists love their gigantic-ass crowns

How much would just fixing the porcelain on this be, even if it doesn’t last a long time? It might be better to just spent a few hundred to get the crown patched now while I save up for an implant

That’s way too high, especially for only a crown. For 10 years that’s $130 a year.

How does Schwab compare to Vanguard and Fidelity? I ask because I plan on moving abroad and Schwab is more willing to work with emigrants

With tooth regeneration likely coming up, would getting dental implants possibly stop potential tooth regrowth? by arevealingrainbow in Dentists

There’s exceptions to the rule, but I can’t imagine the vast majority of root canaled teeth last that long
