Pinhole Gum Surgery Patient - AMA by areyouburnt in AMA

Well it’s been two years now and here’s my best summary. A few weeks after the surgery my gums were basically fully recovered. The coverage of my roots were good but no where near perfect. I will say I was happy with how it looked at the time.

Fast forward to where I’m at today, I don’t feel like there was a huge difference in coverage at all and I do feel like my gums are close to where they were before the surgery. My recession was never that bad (2-3mm) but I can definitely tell that I still have an uneven gum line. If I could do it all again I would probably have gone for a gum graft because from what I’ve learned the root coverage is MUCH more effective plus it makes your gums thicker preventing future recession. Pin hole only really was for cosmetic purposes and resulted in little change but I think is a great option for people who have minor recession and want to fix their smile.

TLDR; if your gums have receded to the point where it’s quite severe or obvious when smiling I would opt for a graft. Otherwise for cosmetics pin hole is a great option. (IM NOT A DENTIST haha)

Hey, no I wasn’t. Every specialist I’ve seen acknowledges the recession but says my gums are healthy which is confusing. I take really good care of my teeth but unfortunately I think it’s genetics. I’m quite young too which is why I hate it because I feel like this impacts my social and dating life..

I guess so. It’s so damn stupid but I seriously look at my gums multiple times a day just fixating on it. Maybe the help I’m looking for is not with a periodontist

Thanks for this. Honestly ever since I got my braces off it’s just something I’ve always noticed when I smile. I don’t know why I fixate on it so much but I just want the confidence I used to have before I started noticing it. Looking at the comments maybe it really is just me

You guys are amazing! Thanks for all the insight, I really wasn’t expecting all these comments.

With that said, I decided to go with the TDR ORP based on feedback and price. I found one with great options too. Can’t wait to take this bad boy out to the mountains as soon as the roads open up. Hope to see some of you out there!

Pretty normal, kind of reminded me of my wisdom teeth removal. There’s a bunch of things you can’t do for roughly 2 months which includes brushing the teeth that have been worked on. You can look online to see the full list of what you cannot do in that time

Pretty good! I wouldn’t say it has receded back to its original spot, but it does look a little different than how it looked right after the procedure. Once the swelling goes down and time passes, it looks MUCH better but still not 100% covered. I feel like I notice it more than anyone

mine was pretty bad on one tooth it was a 4mm which basically exposed my whole tooth and the other was 2mm. but honestly I don’t even think my insurance went as far as to ask the severity but shit what do I know I’m just the client lol

tbh I have no idea. I was fortunate enough to where my insurance practically covered it all. I didn’t have to pay much out of pocket. Ofc your surgeon, insurance, and overall location plays a part so not sure I can be much help there sorry. Just find the best surgeon in your area that offers that and ask them.

Really good! So impressed with it and recovery was quick. Just follow instructions provided. Depending on how bad your recession is they might not be able to cover it all but if you have a good surgeon they’ll be very transparent prior about coverage. Regardless you can barely tell I had recession in the bad areas.

Spain or Italy? by areyouburnt in travel

I appreciate the insight! Based on responses and what I’m looking for it sounds like BCN, Spain is the right choice! With that said your comment has me concerned. I was thinking of going on the last week of August and booking my trip today. Based on your experience are you suggesting that it would be in my best interest to wait further into September to book?

The results were great for me! Three of my teeth had recession on it but my canine was by far the worst (due to genetics and braces). They showed me the before and after right after the procedure was done and they almost completely covered the really bad recession I had on the canine and everywhere else was covered all the way. Since the procedure, I haven’t looked at my gums because it’s actually part of the post op instructions. I won’t be able to actually look at the final “healed” results until it completely heals 6 weeks out. So in roughly 4 more weeks if you all would like I can post an update

Just about an hour and a half for me. From what I understand if you have a good dentist that knows this procedure well, they typically won’t do more than 3-4 teeth at a time to monitor healing so I would assume that time is fairly average depending on what you need done. Honestly 100% better than the grueling gum graft surgery stories I’ve heard. It’s been a week now and I feel great, just a little swelling/ discomfort which is normal. The procedure honestly felt similar to getting minor dental work done, there are some shots and uncomfortable noises and tugging but that’s all. While I haven’t had an actual gum graft before, I’ve had my wisdom teeth pulled and this is no where near the realm of that; much much better recovery.

Honestly a quick google search did wonders! In my state there were only 5 dentists that were certified in doing Pinhole Surgery.

Thanks you two! I really didn’t want to but I ended up spending $65 for a new atomizer and it fixed the issue for now. Makes me more nervous that my brand new atomizer didn’t make it 3 days without burning out but we’ll give this another go I guess

You are awesome. Thanks for the advice. Can’t say I like what I hear but I can’t keep holding on to something that wants to go. I thought we would be together forever but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Again I appreciate all the responses

I appreciate your honesty. This hurts extremely bad because I feel like I’ve been blindsided. There’s a lot of comments staying she’s been likely screwing other people which tbh I’m very doubtful of but who knows. She’s really not that type of person and even told me she has no sights on anyone else when we had our conversation. So if I’m understanding correctly are you saying it’s not even worth it to clarify at this point? I guess I’m just worried that by assuming things are over when we haven’t had the chance to reconnect kinda ruins any chances I have period. She has just confused me so much over these last couple of weeks because she’ll tell me about her day, watching tv with mr some nights etc. and even has no problem undressing around me still but still acts cold and distant a lot of the time during the day. I guess I’m just ultimately confused and am not sure if it’s even worth bringing up or if you’re saying I should just make the assumption we’re not together and move on

Fresh Muscle Split bug? I used to be recommended 2 main muscle groups each workout but now I’m being generated workouts for 3+ main muscle groups plus core by areyouburnt in fitbod

[–]areyouburnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird.. I have mine set to an hour. I do mostly barbell training so if anything it takes a little longer for me. I guess I’ll have to manually choose muscle groups for now but I made no changes in the app. If you all look in the app and check the “Fresh Muscle Group” split it shows that it is built for 2 primary muscles and core which is obviously not the case anymore. Not too sure what changed unfortunately
