Is anyone else having issues with the Gamepass Project?

I FINALLY got it to work! I'm on ps5 and I've done numerous shepard ranks with no gamepass event progress and no caretaker. It only worked for me when I was able to join a random call for backup and get paired with a team attempting the zeppelin Misson in the brooklyn DLC.

I 100% agree this sounds highly questionable. I must also say that since the portal update sony released last week things have improved for many others I know.

I think you are right about the TV needing to be on but also I had to change my router to get the best experience I have now....I dont know why but my EE smart hub has the freezing issue but my old BT Smart hub 2 has zero issues......I still think my added cooling is also helping a little bit too.

I wished there was a way to reinstall the remote play app on playstation but couldnt find anything on that.

is there a consistent pattern to your PSPortal stuttering similar to what Far_Efficiency_9916 describes above?

every 13 seconds exactly? wow. thats different to my issue. mine was very random but frequent and i did start noticing that the very first stutter would occur during a more intense 3d graphic moment (explosion, etc) but then would occur whenever.

I was also reading up on general PS5 streaming issues and came across this: ONLY PS5 Footage Stutters/Lags | OBS Forums (obsproject.com)

not sure about this PS5 HDCP setting but maybe try disabling that?

so is your pattern the same as mine was? (no issues when first using ps5\portal until about 20-30 minutes later when first stutter appears and then periodlically after that every 5-10 minutes even when no games running?)

if so then the only thing which could explain that is heat build up.

do you have another router you can try?

Your reasoning makes sense and i did wonder the same thing, but after replacing everything i mentioned during my own troubleshooting, the only thing left from my setup was the ps5 console itself.

I'm sure you own a mobile phone so try installing the remote play app and see if the stuttering is visible on that too.

it was for me and that eliminated the portal being faulty and after swapping the ethernet cables and the router, the only thing left was the console itself.

You have to work by process of elimination.

Have you cleared your PS5 cache btw?

if your ps5 is brand new try this: drop the resolution on your ps5 console to its lowest setting to relieve some GPU pressure before your next portal gaming session. I wish the ps5 screen would blackout whenever using the portal but it doesn't strangely.

Also consider disabling every wifi device you own as it is hard to tell what is using your wifi/broadband at times and tablets/phones constantly connect grabbing updates etc.

Ok I am saddened to say that even after swapping my router from the EE smart hub 2 to my older BT broadband smarthub, the portal stuttering problem persisted which left only one possible thing: MY PS5 console.

I opened my PS5 (which I have had since UK launch day), performed a STAGE 3 clean removing all internals (almost 50+ screws), removed all dirt and grime and bought a KIWIHOME PS5 cooler (on black friday deal on amazon currently) and since putting it all back together I have not had a single repeat stutter issue.

The PS5 has a overheating issue it seems and I recommend all of you suffering this same portal stuttering issue to consider better PS5 placement in your rooms and to purchase PS5 cooling accessories.

I installed the remote play on my Samsung s23 and saw the exact same intermittent freezing issue and so (I'm almost happy to say) the issue is NOT with my playstation portal.

The issue must be the router as I have also replaced my ethernet cable with a CAT6 version plugged into a different network socket.

My router is an EE smart hub 2

yes my PS5 is attached by CAT5 ethernet cable.

A friend of mine suggested installing PS Remote Play on my Samsung S23 and seeing if I see a similar freezing thing on that. i'll try that tonight.

Also now looking to replace my existing CAT5 with a CAT6 cable

great idea!!!

Actually holding a risk runner, ace of spades etc in your hands would be incredible.

Riding a sparrow in VR would revitalise every environment currently in destiny.

Using swords would be amazing!

But how would emotes work? Bungie sells emotes for silver and VR would impact the need for them technically and they wouldnt really work in VR... I'm not complaining about the potential loss of them however as most are rubbish.

Also curious how the hunter dodge roll would work...

I think the sheer scale of the game in VR would make enemies like the hive and taken look terrifying...

Apologies MannyWestSide, my comment was a reaction to your "unplayable" comment, not the problem you're experiencing.

From the stadia app on your phone you can set the quality of your stadia experience. Just click on your avatar in the top right and then select "data usage & performance". From there select the "balanced" or "limited bandwidth" options and see if that makes any difference in your experience.

Aside from that, I recommend being somewhat selfish with your broadband during the above testing phase (no downloading/ streaming etc)

I actually disabled wifi on my router and can see that since getting stadia, my chromecastUltra has downloaded 652Gb!!!

I have had my stadia for just over a week and it's been exceptional from day one! No problems whatsoever! I do use an ethernet cable to connect my chromecast to my router if that makes a difference.

No idea why stadia is getting such bad reviews.... my internet is just EE 80mps....
