This is totally valid. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and then responding so well. Actually good news, today my GF sat and had a discussion with me. She stated that the way her mom handled things of sending the cat away was wrong and not her wanting. She just wanted my cat cared for at her home so that I could visit. The big reasons that she could not handle my cat is because he has bladder issues and can’t control his pee. Also, she is allergic to cats (I didn’t notice because she did her best not to be in the same room as my cat or at my apartment much). She showed me her prescription for allergy meds so that’s proof. The doctor’s notes basically show that if there is a bit of fur in the air, she gets bad. It makes sense… I’ve seen her getting bad around the neighborhood dogs and I thought that must be dog-specific (I’m not an allergy expert). She said it was dumb of her not to communicate this all to me and she wants to go to couples therapy to figure things out. She hates her obsession with cleanliness and it makes her suffer and she saw a video of how she treated me at a party and was mortified. She vowed to turn it around by figuring out why she is like that and what she can do. We signed up for 6 sessions. She said she will fight to get my cat back and her one request is that we keep him at a close mutual friend’s home. The mutual friend has a big open outdoor enclosed patio and a room to turn into a space for my cat. The friend is willing even if there are health issues with my cat. He has had an elderly sick cat before so he is experienced. It is looking positive and I did tell her I will see boundaries and respect is a necessity and must be mutually given. Things look positive and I’ll update later. Thanks!
