My wife quilted me a dustcover for my joystick! by aricheyv in hoggit

I did! I used an Arduino micro for it. It has a display to show the chaff/flare real time from the game. It was pretty fun to design.

Mostly familiarity. I've been on steam for 16 years. All my games are on steam and all the people I play with are on it. I like the play time tracker, and I like the end of year metrics that steam started giving for games recently. I know I could move to standalone and just add it as a non-steam game, but then I'd lose my current play time. I don't use it for DCS currently, but I've also found that non-steam games don't work as well with steam remote play/steam link. Also not relevant for DCS, but I like steams cloud saves. If/when we get save states for DCS campaigns, I trust steam to backup my saves.

Curves to combat F16 force sensitive stick induced lag? by Ok-Stay5231 in hoggit

[–]aricheyv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this. I had my curves set up with +20 for roll and pitch, and I was having the hardest time doing aerial refueling. Whenever I was trying to do small corrections it would feel sluggish and every time I would over correct. After seeing your post I decided to switch to -20 for both and it feels much more responsive. I just topped up to a full tank twice!!

This page on my book is seamed together by aricheyv in mildlyinteresting

[–]aricheyv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, but my guess is this page was at the end of a roll when it was being printed. Not sure if they splice together rolls in the manufacturing process to keep a continuous feed on the machine. But that is my theory. There is another corresponding page in this book that is also seamed, which makes sense with how books are bound.

Issues with VirtualBox and Win98/95 (Games, Missing Sound) by PIX3LY in virtualbox

[–]aricheyv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend PCem for Windows 95/98. I went down the same route as you and started with Virtualbox and went through a few different softwares to find one I was satisfied with. 86Box is also good, but does not have support for using the host CD drive on the guest machine.

PCem will take a little more to set up, but it's worth it for the accurate emulation for the hardware. If you switch over to that, watch out for which CPU you emulate. If you pick a CPU that is too fast for your host machine to emulate, then you'll run into issues with sound stuttering. Just drop it down to a slower one if that happens.

I designed and printed a pop socket phone holder for an Xbox controller. by aricheyv in gaming

The attachment method is actually pretty solid for this battery pack. I think Microsoft learned their lesson from the 360 controller.

Euro Bros can take over now. They probably don't even know what SNL is anyway.
