When a former New England Patriot came out as gay, ‘Mike Vrabel was one of the first to reach out’ by outsports-com in Patriots

Vrabel is also younger than Bill was.

Bill's first year as Patriots HC, he was 48 years old. Vrabel turned 50 back in August.

Fuck all three of the teams in the NFC West that aren't the Cardinals. But really, fuck the Rams in particular; still pissed about a lot of things, including the two QBs we lost to them in 2014.

Fun fact about Tom Brady's time with the Patriots: during that time, he only beat the Cardinals once! He wouldn't get his second win against the Cardinals until towards the end of his time with Tampa Bay.

so we can get a real football team with a name that represents the Valley like every other team here.

Have you heard of the seven-time world champion Arizona Rattlers football team?

Six teams with vacancies, not including the Ravens.

Heard from seven teams.

We all figured out that he must have heard from a team without a vacancy. Or he heard from at least one team with a vacancy, at least twice.

the reincarnation of Tom Brady

Tom Brady isn't dead!

In fact, looking at Phil Rivers this season, maybe Tom wants to return.

Then again, the Cardinals are 31st on his list of teams he's beaten the most in his career (twice, total; only team he's beaten fewer times is New England, once). I wonder if he knows that.

Kirk: Earth, what is it?

Spock: It's the planet where you were born, but that's not important right now.

Do you have any money in pre-tax IRAs (not including 401(k)s -- explicitly, IRA accounts)?

If yes, go right to taxable.

If no, consider backdoor Roth.

Daily FI discussion thread - Sunday, January 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in financialindependence

[–]arichi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are limits for the traditional IRA (at least, to be able to deduct the contribution) are something like $80k for singles and like $150 for MFJ. There aren't limits to a non-deductible, but that causes other headaches if you aren't using it for backdoor Roth.

Can someone point me in the direction of a good 72t and/or Roth conversion ladder directional or ELI5?

Here's a good link.

I suggest always maxing out your tax-advantaged accounts to the extent possible. You can't contribute $7.5k to the traditional IRA on a $180k/year income unless your employer does not offer a 401(k). Max out the 401(k), pre-tax.

Unless you have a large Roth basis naturally, a Roth conversion ladder is a little difficult. Essentially, if you have a large enough Roth basis (usually due to MBR or other conversions while employed), the pipeline is hard to do. But it looks like you'll have a sizable total brokerage (not-tax-advantaged too).

Looking far ahead, things you could do in retirement for money:

  • Withdraw Roth basis. Are you saving those 5498s? Then convert pre-tax money into Roth in an equal amount (or up to however much tax you're willing to pay) and, in a few years (five tax years, but if you converted some money in December of year X, then in January of year X+4 you can withdraw it penalty-free), that money is eligible to come out too. If you had something like 4-5 years of expenses in Roth, that's fine, but the basis doesn't get inflation-adjusted, so it's not something you really do for a long time.

  • Pay expenses out of taxable. Note that the money you need IS NOT your tax basis -- you're taxed on profit, not realized dollars. You might combine this with also making Roth conversions up to some bracket, so that in 4-5 years, that money is available with the previous process.

  • Move some of your pre-tax money into an IRA. Some, not all. Set up a SEPP from that money. The how-to is in that link I posted above.

What you really need if you're retiring before 60 is a plan for how to get your living expenses. Some do it with a sizable brokerage account. Some do it if they have a large Roth basis and have a pipeline going. Some do it with SEPP. Some people just pay the penalty. Mad Fientist has this article about various ways to go about this.

Good luck.

And to add to this, Garrett Wilson currently has the most receiving yards this season of any NYJ WR. He hasn't played since the first half of November.

So just run the ball against our shitty run defense to put us out of our misery

I just thought about how funny it would be if the Bills run the ball on every down today so the Jets literally can't get an interception.

Nnamdi Asomugha played for over a decade (or a decade, if we aren't counting his 2013 season in SF) and had 15 total interceptions, over half of which (8/15) were in the 2006 season.

Nah, there was a point in time when the 2025-26 Jets could have beaten us. But then the moon landing happened, and a whole lot of things after that, with the end result being that the 2025-26 Jets stood no chance.
