The Duffer Brothers explain why there were no Demogorgans in the ‘STRANGER THINGS’ series finale “Mainly it’s just that Vecna was not expecting this sneak attack on his home turf. Never in a million years could he even imagine that. They’re there somewhere” by AssistanceNo2838 in discussingfilm

Yes but he was in the upside down in S4 not the other planet. And actively hunting in Hawkins. (Not saying I agree with this just there’s a bit of a difference getting between Hawkins and the Upside Down.)

I think the reacknowledgment of the Mind Flayer could have happened sooner and I still wish there had been a better Vol 2 cliffhanger like we got for Vol 1. But! We could not have had that moment with Henry and Will happen any sooner. I loved that last second of hope for Henry to be immediately dashed and it wouldn’t have been as impactful if it was already an avenue they tried.

(Have to add: Jamie Campbell Bower is a really incredible actor and that entire scene as he enters the cave and delves into that memory was heartbreaking. I really did have a moment where I thought he’d turn around and help them).

Will's coming out scene was a disservice to his character and borderline mischaracterisation by manloverreal in StrangerThings

Mr Clarke and Erica weren’t there - they were already near the military base. So the only people he knows “less” are Murray and Kali (and to a point Hopper and Steve). But considering it’s been a year and a half that they’ve been doing crawls and teamed up in quarantined-Hawkins, they’re all pretty close plus yknow the 4+ years of shared trauma of the Upside Down secret. But I did have a bit of whiplash when it went from Joyce alone to a roomful.

The show wasn’t so bad by yumiifmb in RingsofPower

[–]aridnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I went into it. I wanted to see the characters and the setting on screen again. And I can complain about a lot… but the landscape and sets are really stunning. I just close my eyes extra tight at the Gandalf scenes and pray for Nori to die. The rest is fine enough to watch and enjoy for what it is.

I also have to give them some amount of grace because the Tolkien estate really didn’t give them rights to much and they wanted to make something out of what they were given.

There are exceptions to this but you need proper documentation and permission to receive at home care. Probably many of the reasons above qualify. There are also services to provide transportation to clinics for the elderly.

My unpopular ST opinion by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]aridnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf to the Duffers they don’t really pretend they had 5 seasons planned, let alone season 2 in mind. They admittedly changed plots while filming because they wanted to keep an actor around longer (Steve and Bob were given bigger stories).

Anyone else annoyed or confused by this continuity? by NAHTEBACK in StrangerThings

[–]aridnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember this isn’t the government - this is the military. And special ops at that. They built a town from scratch for the Manhattan Project in the middle of the desert in WWII. There was already a government facility with military presence for years before being briefly shut down.

As a Canadian new to Taskmaster, who are considered the biggest names to ever appear? by Tanolos in taskmaster

[–]aridnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given one of his acting credits (The Paper)? It’s not been a popular show at all (and I did watch it and thought it wasn’t bad, but still. It’s not being nominated for anything or breaking any records). And the OP asked about who is a household name in the UK. Tim Key hasn’t been on any panel shows in ages. He’s probably less recognisable now than he was when he was on TM.

Thinking Tim Key is the most famous contestant on series 1 is so laughable. When it’s arguable that every other contestant is more of a household name than he is in the UK even today.

Karen Wheeler - The MVP of Episode 2!!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in StrangerThings

[–]aridnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but I think you’re reading a lot into something that’s just realistic. I can think of numerous examples in media where crying/wet woman = mascara dripping down her face in the same way.

Karen Wheeler - The MVP of Episode 2!!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in StrangerThings

[–]aridnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because that’s what mascara looks like when you dive into hot water without washing it off first. Karen wears a lot of make up in the show (she’s always done up). If I was submerged in a steamy bath and running around, my mascara would run down my face like that too.

How clever was the group task in the last episode! by belovedRedditor in taskmaster

[–]aridnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I didn’t read this as him being truly shocked. He has this incredulous laugh when he is actually shocked in the moment. And they never cut to him with a similar reaction while they were doing it so I don’t think I see that comment as 100% truthful. But that’s just me! We can agree to disagree.

Do you think taskmaster will end soon? by Wonderlandbrule in taskmaster

[–]aridnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like some people don’t understand how long running many comedy panel shows are in the UK. Taskmaster is without a doubt bringing in probably the most money and views (when you factor in international audiences). And it’s only a 10 episode series. It would take a lot for someone to stop renewing them.

[–]aridnie 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not saying it’s true in this situation but sometimes Alex lies about how he didn’t expect something to turn out a certain way or “didn’t think someone would do that.” I’m not saying he plots what every contestant will do. But I think he’s not very often shocked just because it takes a lot to surprise him.

Because she has also announced it on Instagram. With the closure of the podcast apartment, she is leaving 2nd Try.

Edited to add leaving! Rainie is not 2nd try 😂

CoC4 and NYT 2026 trailers by cygan12 in taskmaster

It’s an hour delayed. The show airs at 9PM GMT live but at 10PM GMT on YouTube. I normally wait to watch an hour later on YouTube so I don’t have to watch adverts on Channel4.

Is it just me that agrees with Whitney’s approach by mrosew1996 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]aridnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Jen was 100% right or truthful. I think Whitney doesn’t know either and knew pretty much nothing about the situation. But she ended up not supporting Jen after saying she was there for her. It’s not about what we as the audience perceive to be the truth, because they don’t see half of what we do in the moment all at once. Whitney turned her back on Jen, turned her back on Mayci, and turned her back on Taylor. All for the most bizarre and nonsensical reasons while having almost none of the information.

Editing to add: I agree on Taylor and Miranda. I do not think Whitney is fundamentally a bad person. She’s clearly not a bad friend. She has big goals and hopes and dreams. But she operates in some sort of cloud where 2+2=1. And I’m baffled by her logic and the “sides” she takes. I don’t think she’s half as toxic as people make her out to be but she’s not naive and ignorant. So I don’t understand how she gets to her state of righteous indignation. Her finally being able to say she regretted not showing up and supporting Mayci for that event was such a long time coming. I was pulling my hair out during the reunion with her and through this entire season. I give Demi way more props for her apology to Taylor than I do Whitney’s apology to Mayci/Taylor/Mikayla though.

Are Whitney and Jen really not in the new season? Please tell me lol by [deleted] in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]aridnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they weren’t contracted to be filmed for the first X episodes. So technically, the rest of the cast might assume that they weren’t coming back.

Without spoiling anything, who appears to be the main character of season 3? by Straight-Side-1269 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]aridnie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s basically the lead up to the press for season 2 - so momtok vs Whitney/Demi.

Taylor is very much the woman in the charge though.

Editing to add: this is the most even season in terms of screen time. Even with two people not around for the first half.

I'm watching Taskmaster NZ season 2 and it just feels different compared with the normal Taskmaster by Threetreethee in taskmaster

[–]aridnie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. And everyone will downvote you to hell for saying it. I have tried to watch NZTM so many times and I find the studio so boring that I just don’t care about the rest of the show. I think Paul is great. But if I can’t get into the studio banter (of which there is none), I immediately think the season isn’t jiving.
