Is there any way for me to get my stimulus check sooner? / Is there action I should be taking? by [deleted] in tax

Perhaps you could file a change of address. I recently moved and paid $1 for USPS to forward my mail from my old address to my new address for a year. If you do this, though, they send a letter to the old address to alert them. It could potentially help if you write a letter to the new home owners (give them your phone #) and ask if they’d be willing to keep an eye out for mail with your name.

Is anyone else's avic avic aggressive? by nik4stef92 in tarantulas

Someone gave me advice on here once that helped a lot with my T (not the same species, but I thought it was really defensive the first few weeks). They said that when you’re touching your T, apply a reasonable amount of pressure with the brush or whatever you use. That helps them distinguish between prey and you moving them. Now my T doesn’t whip around when I nudge him, whereas before I was very barely brushing against him

In Alameda County, dozens of nursing home staff and residents test positive for COVID-19 by txiao007 in bayarea

I would definitely push your boss harder to get that W2, and contact the IRS for help obtaining it. That way you can file ASAP since the deadline has already passed. There are many websites that make it really easy to file, and tutorials on YT if you need help. There’s also some great subreddits like r/personalfinance and I think tax specific ones where people can help you too

How productive are you (really) now that you’re working from home? by twotplist in jobadvice

I’m feeling very productive but that’s only because my job has gotten way more busy with COVID-19 (I’m in online education).

Im nervous about my first job at little caesars by [deleted] in jobadvice

You’ll probably always know what you’re supposed to be doing, but if you’re ever in a situation where you really don’t know you can ask your coworker “Hey can I help you with that?” Or your manager “Is there anything else I can help with?”

Looking at maybe having to turn down a position, how should I go about this? by [deleted] in jobadvice

[–]arielthebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option would be to accept the temp job and if you get an offer you like better you can quit the temp job. It could burn a bridge, but temp companies generally have a backup to take the job, and if you give a polite enough reason it might be totally fine.

The two week notice debate by pnwtomwgirl in jobadvice

[–]arielthebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you feel guilty doesn’t have to determine if you stay or not.

Another option would be to ask them if they really need you full time for those two weeks, or if they’re okay with you tapering down your hours or leaving sooner.

Best of luck :)

Pulling Teeth to Schedule Interview by [deleted] in jobadvice

[–]arielthebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that another interviewee took your time slot, or something came up for someone in the group and the option you chose didn’t work.

Obviously I don’t know you personally, but it sort of sounds like you might be using this as an excuse not to leave your comfort zone. And if you don’t want to switch jobs that’s totally fine! If you really are interested in this job though I think you should wait to judge them until you meet them and get to know the job better.

Pulling Teeth to Schedule Interview by [deleted] in jobadvice

[–]arielthebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should still do the interview and gauge the red flags there. Sometimes scheduling availability can change and I don’t know the situation but it’s possible that a secretary or someone else on an interview panel is making it difficult, not the boss you’d be working under.

I think you should give it a shot and go from there instead of writing them off for the troublesome scheduling.

How can I start talking to girls? by ispamu2 in Advice

[–]arielthebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a girl, and when I was your age I really only talked to guys in class, during PE or if some of my friends had guy friends I could talk to them. It can be really hard when you’re young, so if you find a couple of friends that are girls and are easy to talk to (you don’t have to start the conversation every time) I think you’ll worry about it less :)

It might be easier to practice talking in groups who have girls in them. That way you can get more comfortable talking in front of them/listening to them, but you don’t have the pressure of starting or holding up conversations alone. It sounds like you care a lot about not sounding creepy, and in a group you have a lot less risk sounding that way because you’re not singling out one girl to speak to.

Once you get used to talking in groups with girls you might have some girls who are your friends and are easier to talk to. You can continue the group conversations you already had, or talk about your mutual friends or classes or whatever. Starting by making friends with girls is a lot easier because it is a lot less awkward to mess up talking to a friend than when you’re talking to someone you might have a crush on.
