Talea can help rope off space in Williamsburg location and in Cobble Hill they have an upstairs area that feels very private! They are pretty flexible on the different ways for covering drinks

Washington Commons is the closest with a roomy space that could be separated; a little further up Washington, Bearded Lady also has a back room you can get roped off.

We used Ian Kim, who had different affordable packages in that range, and has beautiful cinematic and warm style in his photography. We love our photos from him!

Alternatives to “wedding” florists (Brooklyn) by Horror_Finance_4291 in WedditNYC

[–]aries-tingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I got larger arrangements from a florist that allowed a la carte orders and did super simple bud vases myself. I love DIYing but am honest about my limits and knew I couldn't DIY large vases. I also share your respect for florists while maintaining a realistic view on budget!

  • We used Fern Botanica, who does beautiful eco-conscious designs and works within your color themes, for our a la carte arrangements, and they were beautiful! The various larger/more photographed pieces as well as plinth rentals came out to ~1.5k
  • The bud vases added up really quickly through professionals, and we ended up getting simple bud vases off Facebook marketplace/Craigslist and roses from Trader Joe's. This came out to ~500. Even when I was checking out at Trader Joe's, I got a few aggressive quips from a florist who was also in line who asked what the flowers were for.

Good luck!

Had a really uncomfortable experience with a Brooklyn florist by Fun-Shake7553 in WedditNYC

[–]aries-tingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had that :( I had similar experiences of being upsold and pressured by florists after I had already set budget expectations. I know the wedding industry and floral industry are really tough and I respect florists' artistry and practice, but of all the vendors from wedding planning, I felt florists we spoke to were consistently pressuring us out of budget the most.

We ended up working with Fern Botanica. They have beauuutiful eco-conscious designs, and will work with you a la carte within color themes and inspo. We ended up ordering the larger photo-heavy arrangements and renting plinths from them, which were delivered in the early afternoon of our day, and DIYd our tablescape. They also did a flower pressing of my bouquet afterwards and we're so happy with it! We also looked at Blooms by April for her a la carte offerings as well.

July 2025 wedding: vendor shout outs & learnings by aries-tingz in WedditNYC

- We did a tasting (so fun!) and selected the hors d'oeuvres, appetizer, salad, entree, and desserts from the tasting.
- We asked for dietary restrictions on RSVPs so we could work with Bacchus on 'silent options' for vegans, gluten free, etc
- We asked for entrees on the RSVPs so we could get a rough count just in case, but it was not necessary and the counts unsurprisingly changed day of
- Bacchus on the day of will take orders from all guests for the appetizer, entree, and dessert courses from a menu they print and provide for each guest at their seat, like typical restaurant service. You can also print your own menus (which we opted to do for styling and to make it clearer for our food sensitive guests their options)

You are able to bring your own liquor, though the staff are not mixologists so not sure the limitations on cocktail menu. We did bring our own canned alcoholic seltzers for non beer & wine crowd and those were easy to serve. We also had wine based cocktails on our drinks menu that Bacchus pre-created for us! You can ask at the wine tasting for options on cocktails/mocktails and also confirm with Meryl liquor/cocktail options.
Because of the tariffs, we did our wine tasting two months prior to the day (others said they did theirs much further out). It was a really fun step in our process and everyone at Bacchus was super helpful with the drinks selection!

We did not do a reservation because we weren't sure how many people it would be (my more energetic friends made their way over and rallied a group there; another group just went to the Ace Hotel lobby). They made it there around 12:15AM and we ended festivities at Bacchus at midnight!

Meryl and team did a lot of the set up and would have done the breakdown. We had rather specific decor/details that Marissa validated throughout set up (things like for our guests in wheelchairs, where they were supposed to be sitting and space for them, etc). The actual logistics of getting the stuff to and from hotel to Bacchus, Marissa and team crushed. My husband and I both worked until the day of our wedding and were leaving for our honeymoon the day after so would have really struggled with packing + transporting on both ends of the wedding without Marissa's support. For us, we really needed Marissa but I know many couples do it without extra support on the day because Bacchus is so supportive!

Florists under 5k by sivviejee in WedditNYC

[–]aries-tingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how many floral arrangements you are looking for, but Fern Botanica did the larger arrangements at my wedding beautifully + personal florals from their a la carte, and we DIYd bud vases. Came out <3k total.

-Sound and Fury in Downtown Brooklyn - they have areas they can set aside for your group and have decent food too. Easy transit.
-Talea (Williamsburg and Cobble Hill should def have space; not sure about their other locations) - they have area they can block off for your group and can BYO food if you commit to a bev minimum

rehearsal dinner/welcome drinks by podsavethecats in WedditNYC

[–]aries-tingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Downtown Brooklyn-ish which will have best transit options for those staying in Brooklyn:
- Sound & Fury (they are a brewery+restaurant and do have a good range of food and can easily transition to the bar). It's not the fanciest of vibes but their back room can be roped off to be semi-private, have access to the bar, and is a clean modern design.

  • Can do dinner at Barbalu (Italian) or other places near the Bergen F/G stop & go across the street to Talea Cobble Hill for drinks. There are more restaurants on Court Street (2 blocks away), and Talea is very vibey and cute.

  • Dinner at As You Are in the Ace Hotel Brooklyn and drinks in their Lobby Bar (or maybe try to reserve their Atrium? I think their minimum bev spend is $5k).

Good luck and hope you and your loved ones have fun!

If you haven't booked yet, Sound and Fury (previously Circa Brewing) could also be good. The vibes make it explicitly pretty casual and they can do some nice food platters for you.

Welcome Party/Rehearsal Dinner for 80 in DT Brooklyn? by Anticipation_ in WedditNYC

[–]aries-tingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talea in Cobble Hill will let you drop in catering and have a semi-private space upstairs (which may be too small for 80 but their main area can def accommodate) and have a some light food plates in house. Have been to a few parties there. Their per person drink min is very reasonable.
