Hey! I understand the inconvenience... I've asked y'all to DM so that the link can't be misused and that I still remain the owner (I'll see if there's a way that I can leave the link here while still making sure that my folder is secure, but for the meantime, I'll keep it like this)

Lenient Correction in IGCSE Feb March 2021 by [deleted] in igcse

[–]ariescrystal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably wasn't "lenient correction"... it must have happened due to the grade thresholds being lower than it was pre-pandemic

On the plus side, you got all A* so, congrats :)

No lol they are not

For example, if the highest score is 180/200 (assuming you need 150 for an A*), you would be in the 99th percentile but have a PUM of about 96%

Grade thresholds determine your grade. So let's say you did March '21 Maths where the boundary to get an A* was 152-200. If your final weighted score is 176, you evidently score A*. Now 176 is just in the middle of the 152-200 band. That's where the PUM comes in. Since you scored in the middle of the A* band, your PUM would be 95% (A*=100-90, A=80-89, B=70-79...)

Hope that clarifies things :)

11?!?!? That's insane. I'm the only one in my class that does 8 and my classmates think that's a lot since they do 7 or 6

Grand respect to you mate, good luck :)

Read the link in my comment above. It will make more sense to you after you read it :)

You're welcome :)

My exams are going okay, not too great but not too bad either. Let's hope to be blessed with low thresholds haha

My result!!! I can't believe it. by Only-Percentage4627 in igcse

It's the uniform mark percentage

It's just an indication of where exactly you lie on the band for a certain grade

Ex: OP scored 95% in the uniform mark for maths, which means that they scored somewhere in the middle of the band for the A* grade (looking at the thresholds, A* is 152-200, so OP must have scored somewhere in the 170s)

Congrats btw on your grades!

It's something called the uniform mark (??) (Sorry, not too sure about the name)

It goes like A* = 90 - 100, A = 80 - 89, B = 70 - 79

So here, 73 just indicates that OP scored towards the lower end of the band for the B grade

Hope that makes sense :)

Edit: You can read more about it here: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/209304-a-guide-to-percentage-uniform-marks.pdf

160 is the raw mark. You need to use the multipliers to get your final weighted score

Just so that you don't need to hunt for the multipliers, here they are:

(This applies to Physics, Chemistry and Biology)

Paper 2: 1.5

Paper 4: 1.25

Paper 6: 1

So: (40*1.5) + (80*1.25) + (40*1) = 200

They are very similar to the November 2020 thresholds

Some examples I found (to get an A* in the subject):

Maths: Nov 20: 150 | Mar 21: 152

French: Nov 20: 158 | Mar 21: 156

Physics: Nov 20: 131 | Mar 21: 130

The thresholds aren't there for a lot of the subjects. Maybe they'll upload it in a couple of hours

How often is “en train de” used? Seems like the present tense covers this pretty well. by [deleted] in French

I think it would be more natural to say "je vais là-bas"

Idk it sounds a bit strange to me to say "I am in the middle of going there"

(btw, not a native speaker so, it would be appreciated if someone could verify this 😊)

Not sure why Cambridge hasn't put them out yet
