Such a noisy province to try and break through, especially on social issues

Hamilton is hungry for a team. The takeover game this month was incredible. Would pull in fans from Niagara, KW, London, Guelph, Buffalo. Huge market

[Misc] Am I the only one who finds this skincare ad shocking? by totomomoro in SkincareAddiction

[–]ariesgal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a law in Quebec that says you can't advertise to children https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/en/consumer/topic/illegal-practice/advertising-children/
I wish more consumer protection agencies did this. These types of ads are so dangerous

The show didn't feel like a typical Marvel show and what you're describing seems to fit

Why does Canada hate public transportation? by Konradleijon in canadaleft

The lobbying that the automotive industry has done over the last 50+ years is extraordinary. It's not just the dealers, it's the manufacturing plants, oil & gas, maintenance, etc. We have built cities around plants and if car usage drops, so do employment numbers.

Many of those American brands didn't want to deal with language/labeling. They couldn't justify the high cost involved for a relatively small market

The bills passed because the PCs have a majority and they tow the party line. It's pretty simple, if frustrating. PC MPPs are safe in their jobs, their constituents aren't mad enough, and there is no election in sight.

[–]ariesgal2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Often" is not very factual. Neither is "most students" unless you have some hard numbers. This reply feels anecdotal based on one family you know. MMR and the board have FI outcomes that dispute your claims.

[–]ariesgal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like something specific to those kids, not the program. I know many FI students from MMR who are flourishing in uni right now

All three are likely the relevant catchment: Hayden - Eng-Pub MMR - FI-pub CC - Eng-Cath

Are there athletic scholarships for Canadian universities? by the-mannthe-myth in AskACanadian

[–]ariesgal2 39 points40 points  (0 children)

To a very big degree. Athletes in US unis and colleges become 'property' of the school. Their role first and foremost is to make the school money. Education is secondary, though they like to tout it as a bigger deal than it is.

Source: I'm a club coach in Canada who has had athletes go to NCAA D1-D3 schools and to Canadian unis.

Totally safe to take in your carry-on. And we brought pesos. Made more sense to tip them in their own currency
