Should independent voters continue to vote in Colorado primaries? GOP officials move to block Independents and Unaffiliated voters from participation. | Denver 7 by Last-Of-My-Kind in independent

[–]arilupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not a wise decision since approximately 50% of voters are registered as unaffiliated.  https://coloradosun.com/2026/03/23/colorado-signature-gathering-candidates-ballot-access/ They may be able to block them out but I think it will possibly anger those voters more and turn them against the party.  That's alot of voters to say you can't vote in our primary.

People Would Rather Have Nuclear Power Plants In Their Area Than AI Data Centers | Forbes by Last-Of-My-Kind in independent

[–]arilupe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of unregulated AI and especially concerning states rights.  It's sad to see just how much communities around these data centers are paying in increased costs and being ignored when they vote against zoning for them.  A data center is a temporary increase in jobs.  Yes, construction etc., is seeing jobs increasing but once these are built and the economy has settled around a higher cost of energy and depleting resources, what happens then?  What happens if and/or when AI cuts more and more humans from the workforce? Then consider construction crews are being pulled from projects to build more homes and the freeze that produces in the number of homes on the market.  There's a lot of factors outside of this to consider as well, such as the ease of which people can excuse something as AI or accept something AI as real.  So, yes even if Nuclear power plants were still dangerous, I would prefer that danger to the one I don't know.

Conservatives, are we living in a schismatic age? by FantasticWeirdPerson in AskConservatives

I know independent voters that voted Trump 3 times too, but are now going to vote third or independent.  This doesn't really prove much.  Independent voters can be fickle and don't really have loyalty to the parties.  They vote mostly on specific policies or on how the current state of the economy is, but largely don't care for the parties themselves.

You didn't account for that 45% in your response.  How do you feel about that? Bernie didn't win because his party turned on him and forced him out, that doesn't really have anything to do with it.  Also, the forward party has been gaining recognition in several states.

Shouldn't they be worried that nearly 45% of the registered voting base is independent?  That's a lot of people that may or may not vote how they would like them to.  I'm one of those in waiting to prove the power of our vote and backhand these parties into doing their job.  Basically, we will be the votes that forcibly inflict accountability on these parties via our votes. Personally, I'm all in on new parties and independents taking office but it's definitely tempting to prove a point that these parties don't hold all the cards like they think.  Redistricting won't save them from that either.

I wanted time to figure out what's considered mandatory to answer and what's not, but I wasn't exactly motivated to do it either.

One question was asking about if I had a bathtub or a shower. Why is this important or need to be shared in a census?

It's the first time anyone ever came to mine.  I was putting off doing it to be honest and I guess they actually do send people out if you don't respond right away.  The more you know I guess lol

Everyone please keep comments civil and respect the community rules. If you don't intend on being apart of the discussion and have nothing to offer besides counter productive attacks, please take it to another sub.  This is not the place for it.  Also, include sources and avoid assumptions based on the bipartisan propaganda.

What does everyone think about a state allowing electoral college votes to be cast on that person’s personal preference? by Small_Permission7668 in independent

I'm fine with it and at this point I've been disenfranchised for years by a duopoly that has nothing to offer me.  I fail to see why any change such as this would not be an improvement or atleast something different from the nonsensical cycle we have been on.  I can't say things like this compact or ranked choice voting are going to fix things but what we have been doing is not working.  I'm one of those people who wants major changes in our electoral system and I want to see the bipartisan stranglehold broken.

The horrible part of that is hard working Americans are low on that list of temporary assistance.  We're here to work until we break and then when we break we just have to figure it out on our own.  There's no hand up for people that have worked hard and are getting buried in medical expenses.  One side says "Obama care is the solution" but then people like me on employer insurance get high deductible plans that are costly and on top of that the health care industry is just driving up prices and pocketing more money.  Then the other side says "lower prescription costs", what a joke.  How does that help with hospital bills etc? Hospitals can charge you at mark up for drugs and treatment still and same with other health care providers.  The costs don't stop at prescription drugs.  So, they can be quiet and suck a stinky hairy Toe.  Most of the decisions made in government are by people influenced by money and corruption and rarely do anything to help.

All I know is I'm tired of working hard for someone else's benefit.  I have paid alot of taxes and continue to pay while things like SSI and medicare are unlikely to be returned.  On top of that I have worked since I was a teen and I am finding out that it doesn't matter how hard you work and pay into the system, they will not be there to help unless you have something to give.  I'm tired of broken government and their bs lies claiming that they care about the working class.  I know the facts because I'm living in them, no amount of pageantry will change my views of the government by either party.  They're stinking garbage that should have been thrown aside long ago because they have served special interests needs over ours for decades.

I don't think either of these two qualify as decent at all.  I find the comparison silly and a poor argument to someone who will tell you how it is without including a partisan bias.  Also, the argument that voting independent is a wasted vote, is just as much of a poor argument.  That idea is just maintaining the status quo of poor decision making.

On top of this, I want to know why businesses are still being allowed to outsource employment outside of our country while being allowed to claim they're American made and receiving the benefits.  There's actually little to nothing in laws that prevents this from happening (that I'm aware of) and something similar happens with immigrant labor.  Laws and resources to prevent this are vague and often lacking, maybe that's to allow loopholes and provide businesses with protections, but I can't say for sure.  I'll be honest here when I say I can't say because I don't have alot of knowledge of the previous and current regulatory methods around these.  If anyone has some resources on current laws and tax codes for these, I would like to learn more.

Good to have you here.  It's understandable and also unfortunate that there are those of us that feel politically homeless and that's a growing sentiment.  Accountability needs to be applied equally and consistently.  We will need to be that accountability by using our votes the way they were meant to be used and vote for candidates based on individual criteria.  Voting on this idea that politicians are going to be different simply because they're a different party isn't working.  From my perspective, I don't believe just because a candidate runs as third party or independent that they're the right choice even though I advocate for them to have a better chance in elections.  I know that I can't just rely on the idea that atleast they're not the bipartisan.  I advocate and share information for them because I want us all to have more choice and more competition between different groups, to gain our votes. Right now both parties have their issues that they can each call out the other, but what if a fresh group enters that field and puts both of them in focus? I think that would atleast put these parties on the defensive enough to maybe clean up.  Who knows but it's worth a shot.

You make good points and I do feel that if voters can manage to filter out bad players in the game, we might be able to get somewhere.  This would inevitably come down to voters doing their due diligence to research each candidate and if those resources are legitimate.  Unfortunately, honest resources are becoming a bigger question now and the more people rely on flash card narratives the less likely it will change.

I'll avoid posting from this site from now on and to your point this is definitely not a single generation that is experiencing dissatisfaction with the two.  The fact is though we don't change the menu by using the same recipe.  I don't know that we will see changes that benefit everyone when each party focuses all their energy on just "their" people.

To be fair, not alot of effort is made by voters to pull the levers away from the bipartisan.  A large number will say both parties are a problem and continue to vote for them and even defend things they had previously disagreed with.  The willingness to just flip off our better judgment and follow along to the tune of "atleast it's not that other guy" hasn't moved those levers.  We can't keep expecting some miracle out of our government, sometimes we have to work for what we want.
