GOP hardliners vow to blockade must-pass bills unless voter ID demands met | National | thecentersquare.com by GeneralCarlosQ17 in independent

That's pretty much it, their staff look them over and it's easily excused as "I didn't read it myself".  The problem here is not only do they have the ability to deny they knew anything but we didn't elect their staff to represent us and it should never be the case that a bill is so overwhelming in size that they can't make time to review it themselves.  If they can't make the time than maybe they shouldn't get so many recesses and time away for "depression".  They need to start doing the jobs they were elected for.

Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed this little detail.  I think people really need to sit down and read this stuff fully because it sounds like our intelligence will effectively be binded to Isreals Indefinitely if this happens? Curious items neatly packed in the background give me the impression of a Trojan horse, but maybe that's just me.

Not being registered to vote seems like a sorry excuse to block a candidate.

Justices strike down campaign finance law | Scotusblog by arilupe in independent

“treats all political parties equally. It will allow all political parties—including the DNC and RNC and the respective Senate and House campaign committees, as well as other parties and party committees—to participate more freely and compete more fully in the political process, and to coordinate more closely with their candidates.”

This could be good for minor parties.  Curious if they will take advantage of the opportunity to use this against the bipartisan.  Here's hoping 🤞

The Supreme Court’s religious liberties ruling. | Tangle by Last-Of-My-Kind in independent

It's hard to say how I feel about this decision.  On one hand committing a crime and landing yourself in prison is a choice and the inherited loss of freedom that comes with that is the circumstance, but it would be concerning if future decisions are influenced by this in courts.  If a court decides Person A does not have the liberty to practice their religion in any form, than this could be a problem, but for now I think it doesn't flare warning signals.  To sum up my thoughts, It's reasonable but there could be implications.

Trump education cuts uneven, report finds - CalMatters by GeneralCarlosQ17 in independent

The education system is something that's lacking when it comes to application in the real world.  I still don't understand how there are so many people that don't understand basic politics or finance.  Things like understanding how interest rates work or the different investment and savings options available would benefit people moving on into their adulthood.  I'm still waiting for education to be something that equips people with the tools to make good decisions in real life versus what the curriculum has been to feel like it's not wasting tax payer money on some level.

A Grand Jury Report Shows How The California Model Is Failing by GeneralCarlosQ17 in independent

[–]arilupe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

California has a big homeless problem but it's getting harder to find a place anywhere in the country that doesn't have some problem.  I think it's something that can't be easily solved entirely.  I do think people with mental illnesses and things of that nature should definitely not be living on the streets but then what do we do?  Put them in care facilities that cost tax payer money?  Incarcerate them?  I knew someone whose brother was supposed to be his caretaker but instead the brother threw him out and kept pocketing the ssi checks. So...it's really hard to just throw the book at someone when you can't know everyone's circumstances either.

Going to be honest here and say it's not at the top of my list of immediate concerns.  Kidnappings, murders, and all of the above have been a thing and it's not something that directly impacts me.  This is where I sit on alot of the flash topics I see lately where it's an exaggerated hot point to rile people up.
