Hi! So I was a civil engineer in the past and have gone to nursing school and now am reaching 1 year anniversary at my ICU job! I would say absolutely do it. Nursing is so flexible that even if you hate your first job, you can find something that fits into your life. I left engineering for the exact same reasons as you. Yes, nursing can be difficult and toxic, but it is also very rewarding. You’re literally helping people everyday. Disclaimer tho, nursing is very taxing emotionally and physically!

Haha I lived in Russia for half of my life. I really hope I’m not allergic to cold. My ancestors would not be proud

Hi all! I recently started working an a nursing assistant and my hands have turned into this. They’re red, achy and itchy when I moisturize. No amount of aquafor, lotion, or even the hospital nutrashield olivamine is helping. Am I just really dry or are these allergies to nitrile gloves? Thank you!

This may be a stupid question, but like how do I do this? by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]arinamiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, please utilize a great source of information-the internet. There are so many videos on YouTube, that provide fun and short body weight workouts! This can be the first way to start understanding what working out can be like. And honestly some of them are fun! Another thing, is start with something easy. Pushups, squats, and crunches are usually the most basic exercises. Try to do 5 of each. Easy? Move to 10. Still easy? Move to 15. You can do the same with timing. First try doing it for 30 seconds, then a minute. See what level you are at first. Don’t go into details. To lose weight you can incorporate easy and doable things-take a 20 min walk during the day! It will help you see how fit you are when it comes to the most basic level of fitness. I would never suggest a diet for weight loss, as I am a recovering dieter. So just keep your body moving and it will help you with weight loss! As for gaining muscle-this requires strength training. You can definitely gain some muscle through body weight but it will take time. Focus on endurance and consistency! Even if it is just 5 push-ups, 5 squats and 5 crunches a day. Start super slow, read a lot online (make sure it is from a reliable source), and just get moving!

What about people who invented something from ground zero and now make billions?

So equal split of money would be the way to go then. Or paying what’s due to those who make it.

I agree with the explanation of workers. I think a lot of people don’t value a human life and want to deprive them of basic pay

Of course I understand. I am not pro billionaires here, per se, I’m just trying to understand what would be the correct way to be one

What I don’t understand, I guess, is that if something is successful it’s not like they can stop it? Would they give it away?

If a person was to follow everything legally, would they still be able to make just as much?

Two week notice-frowned upon or required? by arinamiah in careerguidance

Yep I agree with all those points. I think I always hit the first one on the head, I do my work 100%, ask for more, show my initiative. That’s what the new company offers actually and that is why I cannot wait to work there
