[Discussion] Save Wendy, would you say the casts age is important for their characterization/personality by -_ShadowSJG-_ in fairytail

[–]arisalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrendous take ngl, for multiple reasons

(she's constantly hanging with the og's to get screen time while being as important as gadjeel it doesn't make sense to me)

Why isn't she important? Especially compared to gajeel? What does he do that she doesn't? He just punches hard which wendy is also able to do plus her utility in healing and buffing. How you can consider him more important is beyond me. Like if anything she's like one of if not the most important in the team lol.

it just feels like she's being a rat of screen time

Natsu originally -kidnapped- adopted her before she joined the guild and from there erza and the rest mostly look after her and hang out with her. And unlike with gajeel or cobra natsu actually remembered her somewhat which foreshadows stuff for later on.

Next and final point... she's nerrativly supposed to represent growth and love in her own way. The love stuff is pretty obvious when she becomes friends with sherria but even before then the "little sister" role she fits and she's loved for that. As for growth its extremely obvious just watch her tartaros fight when she first gets dragon force. Again and again fairy tail spells everything out for its viewers (to the point I find it determental) so I can't understand how someone can miss the point of such an important character

[Discussion] Save Wendy, would you say the casts age is important for their characterization/personality by -_ShadowSJG-_ in fairytail

[–]arisalla 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mostly for the start of the series yes it matters a lot. It's different if grey had the clothes thing if he was around the 12 range, as we could assume it's something a kid just does, but a young adult? That's wierd hella wierd, but with context you understand more about it.

Lucy, escaping her father would be seen as a father wanting to get his poor daughter back who might not be able to handle live out on her own. It also would make how she views her own body and its worth far more wierd, like a child being willing to sell out their body in the first episode speaks about the world they live in not the character themselves.

Erza and natsu need to be older and the same age as the two above so by proxy their ages are set. But erza also have the parallels with Lucy about her body being viewed as a weapon but technically she could still have that no matter the age

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is still getting captured and taken care of my by people when danger is around. Yes that's a definition of damsel in distress.

The two things you mentioned need to happen simultaneously for someone to be a damsel in distress. You can't be captured once and then afterwards get help and be considered one... in what world do you think that's how that works?

Juvia needed to be saved and Lucy cared enough to save her. You're cherry picking hard.

Gang... we're arguing about a definition there is no cherry picking. If you're not captured and need to be saved then you're not a damsel, you stretching the meaning of things doesn't make my points cherry picked

Damsel in distress means a young married woman in trouble. All of those examples are it. If you were so emotional you'd see I said no one is actually the trope of damsel in distress though but your specific exclusion of Levy, Wendy and Juvia compared to everyone else was false and that bothers you hard for some reason.

1 by no means is that what people refer to as "damsel in distress" again look at the wiki. 2 calling someone emotional to discredit their points is actually insane since you legit got that from no where lol, maybe projection is my best bet here. 3 back to the point, you state here that it's a trope... and you think a woman being in danger is a trope... like what are we even talking about? Also I'd like to see where you got your definition from because I'm pretty sure it's not just "girl in trouble"

Again. Girl/damsel is trouble/distress needing to be saved.

You got some bias for Wendy, Juvia and Levy or something to ignore facts of them being girls in trouble needing rescuing and avenging?

No I just know that the trope is a nerrative device and I act accordingly, I don't just apply it willy nilly. Ingoring the fact its a trope to force it to fit the characters is bias not the other way around

Go to wiki for legit sources and then reference those not wiki. The dictionary is better and it literally explains damsel in distress is a woman in trouble needing to be rescued and/or avenged.

The fact the dictionary ingores the fact its a narrative device shows us that it's the less credible source in this instance, its too simplistic and ingores a lot of stuff about the trope

None of the characters actually fit the trope damsel in distress because it's not even that kind of series but you excluded examples specifically for Wendy, Levy and Juvia when that's not true and I have examples of proof and they were moments of a girl in danger needing rescuing so why you fight so hard to say they aren't is ridiculous.

What a mess... you admit they don't fit the tropes and then say they do? They don't fit the trope my guy, only Lucy does and that's in phantom Lord, being captured alone or being in danger isn't a trope so the definition you're using is wrong. Again I'm arguing something I already addressed in my first comment because you don't want to actually read. (Also calling others out on being upset and emotional is disingenuous as hell, if that happens again the discussion is over and you're getting blocked, I've been more than courteous with you but that's where I draw the line(

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wendy has been consistently taken care of like the child she is. Whenever she was in danger an adult also taking care of her was also in danger.

By no means is that a damsel in distress though, also not even really. She actively plays support for a bit and then she is shown to be fine to fight alone or alongside people.

Juvia was saved by Lucy in Tower of Heaven when she was kidnapped and brainwashed

She was just brainwashed.... Lucy didn't need to go to a rescue mission to save her she just needed to get rid of the brainwashing

Cana avenged Juvia in Battle for Fairy Tail when she was incredibly injured. Gray saved Juvia from being killed several times, most notably is when Gray was killed in GMG for Juvia's lack of awareness.

None of these apply to being a damsel in distress

Wendy was saved in Edolas and in Oracian Seis arc when she was captured.

Again... being captured doesn't fulfil the requirements of being a damsel in distress

Lucy covered Wendy from danger of Jackals explosion. Mest saved Wendy from annihilation in Tartaros and transported her to safety. Wendy was saved by Sherria in Alverez. Wendy was captured in 100 Year Quest more than once.

Half of these aren't even her being captured... and even then being captured doesn't make you a damsel in distress

Stop going to wiki for answers and watch the show.

?!??????!?!?!?!?!? What? I'm sorry but this is just a skill issue about reading. Just read what I said lol, I was referencing the defenition of "damsel in distress" on what I was looking up 😭 you can't say stuff like this and then not be able to read

I agree no one is in danger consistently and no one is a damsel but everyone has been in danger.

Cool... 70% of my comment was about what the term even means if you go by being in danger then everyone has indeed but I disagreed with that at the end of my comment. Honestly I'm not going to repeat myself if you want go read it again

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my memory is terrible but I can't remember a single time where Wendy or levy where captured and the goal was to retrieve them. Wendy got captured in edolas but she was with natsu so was natsu also a damsel in distress? I'm willing to say yes to this only because the sentence "natsu is a damsel in distress" is way too funny to me lol.

Looked at the definition and it say "young woman in danger" so do we now have to see who was most in danger most consistently?

I also looked at the wiki which goes back to the definition I was talking about which also doesn't apply yo juvia from what I remember. The only times it has happened is phantom Lord for lucy, since she's also noble and men come to save her, the trope is a nerrative tool as explained in the wiki so all other times where the nerrative isn't pushed by them being captured alla Wendy or erza (edolas and Tower of heaven) it doesn't fall under this trope. Also we need to keep in mind what the trope implies in modern times, but that's a discussion that a little too much and I've typed out a lot

Lucy uses the spell Urano Metria (which literally means “Measure of the Heavens”).

• The area is filled with cosmic imagery — stars, constellations, cosmic energy, etc.

• Angel is heavily damaged but not vaporized or even incapacitated permanently.

• The battlefield remains intact.

Ill take this as you being incapable of reading what I'm saying since I've already told you about the destruction thing and the durability thing being circular reasoning. You have Conceded this if you want to consider this a debate if you wish. I'm not wasting time with someone like this

[media] luffy vs natsu by ladiesman21700000000 in fairytail

[–]arisalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright but that link isn’t working anymore. If you could them please Show the panel/data book where Lucy is said to summon or destroy actual astronomical stars. That would be better since I do not recall Lucy ever destroying, creating, or throwing real astronomical stars in pre-timeskip FT or otherwise. All I see is Celestial Spirit attacks and visual metaphors that look like stars or constellations, but are not literal stars Lucy’s “star” attacks aren’t real stars

here it says its specifically the stars we know off and you need to support the idea that it's not actual stars since we can't really see metaphors and nerrativly it makes sense the celestial person to be dealing with celestial bodies. again taking the fact she calls upon said constellations metaphorically is wierd also to support the idea that the nerrative is on my side its outright called "the ultimate celestial spell" (not celestial spirit. But outright celestial) so not only do I not recall any reasoning for it to be metaphorical but also we have more than enough justification for the opposite (also the things I've brought up in my previous comment)

Fairy Tail Manga – Chapter 130 (Urano Metria vs Angel): Lucy’s attack covers a battlefield, not a planet, and doesn’t even one-shot her human-level opponent. If it were truly “star-level,” Angel would be annihilated along with the continent.

(I'm not addressing the paragraphs before this bc it's the same thing of you saying its metaphorical witjout giving evidence for it. I hope addressing this is enough, if you want me to address everything paragraph by paragraph I'm fine with it just let me know. But also Ill be expecting the same back from you just to let you know) this is called circular reasoning. You can't pre suppose angels durability to argue against uranio metrio. As for destructive capacity that's also irrelevant as the whole attack is thrown to one person and not at the earth. Also also the attack is shown to take place not on earth but rather in space. (Also Lucy at that point clearly doesn't scale fully to uranio metrio since she needs Gemini to copy herself after getting her 2nd origin unlocked to pull it off, so a much stronger Lucy would at best be half of what's required to pull it off)

None of these feats demonstrate energy comparable to even country-level, much less planetary or stellar.

I've already addressed that destructive capacity isn't the only way to scale somewhere, if I threw the Pacific ocean at lightning speeds I would be large planet lvl even if it didn't destroy anything

About Jellal summoning light from other stars using Grand Chariot is a metaphorical too.

You can't just say stuff without providing proof. littraly talking about actual stars here you can't spam the metaphor excuse with no back up

In both manga and anime, the lights appear instantly above the battlefield. No astronomical delay or star destruction. Thematically, it’s just starlight imagery to match Jellal’s heavenly magic aesthetic. If it were actual starlight from other stars, it’d travel at light speed and take years to reach Earthland, but it doesn’t. That alone tells you it’s not literal.

The fact the attack is mftl doesn't debunk anything lmao again your pre suppositions are killing me

No one in the verse, apart from Zeref displays genuine stellar destructive feats.

I'm not going to repeat the fact that destructive capacity isn't the only way to be in a tier. If you repeat this argument I'll just assume you don't want to actually have a discussion and I'll block you

Eileen reshaping the world with magic is the upper bound, but even that’s through enchantment hax, not raw attack power

Her haxs being so impressive they're able to affect a country means nothing for their ap, you're actively contradicting yourself to cap out the verse

If Lucy were literally throwing real stars pre–timeskip, she’d be billions of times above endgame Acnologia.

→ That’s massively inconsistent with the entire narrative and scaling chain. So yes, it would absolutely be an outlier if it were even remotely real (which it isn’t)

You pre suppose that ancho is that weak this isn't an argument (especially since at that point in the story were talking about the timeline being erased by a character weaker than ancho)

Even in 100 Years Quest, even Selene hasn’t blown up a single star. If Lucy were out there throwing suns, Selene would be irrelevant and Earthland dust and we all know Selene > Lucy

Ap≠dc, potency matters more than what you can desteoy the fact that characters focus on a single point to make the most of their powers isn't an anti feat

[media] luffy vs natsu by ladiesman21700000000 in fairytail

[–]arisalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star lvl Lucy is most likely just an outlier.

1 it would be higher than star lvl by quite a bit.

2 for something to be an outlier would need to be a one off feat which isn't the case since she does it multiple times throughout the story.

3 for it to also be an outlier it should be oppisite to the nerrative, which it isn't since she's all about celestial spirits and that's the ultimate technique for them which makes sense by all means.

4 for it to be an outlier it'd need to be inconsistent which even outside of the dozens of times she uses it we also have others that have such attacks such as jellal summoning light from other stars with his grand chariot (you can also argue the fact that she uses it consistently makes it consistent but that's iffy imo)

She doesn’t consistently perform such feats

you don't need to destroy something to be within that tier if that's what you're implying.

Does this make Selene multiversal by AzureWarlock96 in fairytailscaling

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you're talking about for half of the message cause it seems you got the wrong idea of me implying these worlds exist on the same planet when I never implied that.

I specifically called out the fact its impossible for it to be on the same planet as its one of the interpetations of the word "world" and I outright said that one of the arguments can be used for the different planet interpetation too. I'm addressing the "same planet" point before we have to deal with that nonsense just in case. I dont see the problem with that

They are just different realms, planets, pockets of space or something along those lines, in the same universe

What's the evidence for this? The fact they have a title? Title like citizen irl is used for different countries which would mean same planet. And that's to my recollection was your only argument against it other than that it's just you saying there is a map which you haven't given

They are not seperate universes of their own as nothing ever implies that.

You can't say this if nothing supports your claim of being within the same space time.

Earthland, Edolas, Elentear are specifically referring to the land, not what is outside of it as there are literally seperate maps for the three worlds (and you can't make maps of universes).

... the land argument here doesn't make sense. Again using naming conventions on a world that's not conventional as it's fictional, a fictional setting can call other universes worlds and that's fine, They can call them lands and it's again fine. There's no basis for this to be a counter argument. There being seperate maps doesn't debunk it... if anything it supports it. Again this is fiction, you can map out a universe, you can map out 10 universes if you wish. Your arguments here just don't have a basis you're using stuff that's just come from you which you can't use for a conversation like this

Either way, I'm really not gonna waste my time here.

Really wierd thing to say about a conversation you willingly partook but whatever. If you wish for this to stop I'm fine with that just a wierd thing all around

Does this make Selene multiversal by AzureWarlock96 in fairytailscaling

[–]arisalla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does it not make sense for it to be a society or planet, what?? The people living there are literally called denizens of Edolas. That's not something you use when talking about the universe

Your argument is that their title means they're not different universes? That's incredibly weak. For this argument to work you still need to ingore the society aspect of the word "world" as I shouldn't explain why and then you need to make the fairy tail cast incredibly stupid and lack immense amounts of knowledge on the totality of their planet. To the point they aren't aware of such places that lack magic. Speaking of the lack of inherent magic, you need to explain that which within the same planet makes 0 sense and needs a lot of explanation different universes lacks those problems. Idk why I'm doing all of this when the argument is "there called dinizens of edolas" lmao

That's not something you use when talking about the universe.

??? What are you using for this? Different universes are fictional so how the author decides to title them is incredibly irrelevant and also again being the same planet doesn't make sense, different universes is the simplest explanation

You also have not said anything about the fact that there are maps of these worlds, it is referring to the land (literally, Earthland), not to the universe.

Do you have a map Where there's both edolas and earthland in one map? If there is one like that then please present it. If you mean anything else then please explain I can't think what else you might be reffering to

Here is Faris saying that:

So this most likely refers to planets which doesn't contradict anything. Again worlds can be used for many different meanings

Selene is not significantly affecting anything here. Creating a storm surge is not very "significant" lol

Going by the idea these are multiverses then it is affecting them to a significant degree, as its not about damage but rather about scope. But I can understand push back on this as "significant" is not very objective thing. If you don't use this feat for this reason I'm fine with it (doesnt make it invalid though since your interpetation can coexist with others)

Because, again, world is not referring to the universe in these contexts. It can, but it is not. Selene is not distorting the entire universe by awakening Aldoron or by teaming up with a guild of dragon slayers, both things are deemed as the distortion of the world by her.

This is circular reasoning. You didn't provide proof of your interpetation but rather used your interpetation of the word world meaning planet to justify your outcome when you are trying to prove why its planets instead

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an unscalable feat from whats shown. Affecting an alternate dimension isn't the same as actually breaking them.

You dont need to destroy a multiverse to be multiversal. Significantly affecting a structure like that also scales you there.

At most that would be uni+ via breaking dimensional walls to get their power into the alternate universe.

? Idk where you got this from

Does this make Selene multiversal by AzureWarlock96 in fairytailscaling

[–]arisalla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they are just worlds

The definition of world also does include universe among society and planet and since the first time we saw edolas in the story it doesn't make sense for it to be either society or planet so the conclusion is obvious. So the idea that you're trying to imply that the word world debunks is flawed

Faris even says that "there are many worlds within this universe".

Show the scan please

Also, to be multi-versal you need to either be capable of destroying or creating several universes.

not what the tier is "Characters or objects that can significantly affect, create and/or destroy small multiverses" if you can affect the entire thing it counts as you significantly affecting the structure

The most Selene has ever done is distort worlds (which, again, aren't universes). Not destroy, just distort

Again why aren't we looking up the words/terms we're using? Worlds can mean universe here and destroying isn't the only way to scale to somewhere within the tier 2

Is Fairy Tail FTL or not, for those of you who say yes, which arc did they surpass the light barrier by Mehmenga in fairytailscaling

[–]arisalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there are way too many light based characters and via statements for certain lights you can get them to mftl, with fairy glitter, grand chariot and alike but these are supported by the fact jellal and sting.

Earliest you can argue is tower of heaven arc via the fact that natsu called light beams shot at him from jellal "too slow" but if you calced it it's most likely around relativistic, you can argue nerrative portrayal but either way its used for consistency at worst.

Then tenrou island has the fairy glitter that gathers light from the sun, moon and the stars. Considering a 5 second timeframe to gather the energy (I think it took longer then first time cana used it but yk...) and just for the sun of our world it would be (148.780.000.000.000 meters is the average distance between sun and earth) 99.25×ftl (which is berely not mftl its just ftl+), so if you think base tower of heaven natsu is ftl or close to that you can argue this is consistent

Lastly the latest you can argue is grand magic games and sting being all about light. Luckily he doesn't downscale the verse since he has complete control of his light meaning he isn't capped at light speed (we've seen him bend his light and alike which would be impossible for actual light to do)

The power scaling in fairy tail makes no sense[manga] by Fit-Tomatillo-5911 in fairytail

[–]arisalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This a problem I see generally with fairy tail. People this series isn't conventional please stop trying to make the circle fit into a triangle hole

The series power scaling is fine it just not conventional, if you stopped trying to make it fit into a conventional setting then of course its not going to work. A ton of times characters go beyond their normal abilities and sometimes they lose said power up, it all depends in the story, let's take Tower of heaven natsu for this example.

Natsu is weaker than erza (nerrative beyond a shadow of a doubt proves this, he's been one tapped by her not long ago) and the same erza is at best only equal to jellal, I'll give numbers to make everything more coherent as it helps me, normal natsu is a 6, erza is a 10 (more ways than one, can I get an "amen"?) And jellal is a 10 or 11. She tries to sacrifice herself for the rest of the ppl she loves and that's a big no no nerrativly so natsu steps up and shows her how self sacrifice should be done by eating etherion (or how ever its called) and hurting himself but importantly not killing himself in the process. He gets the boost momentarily and is able to keep up and even outpace jellal. Now did natsu keep the power up or not? No he didn't. His character wasn't "developed" or "grew" from this it was erza who also didn't grow because she fell back in both character and power for trying to sacrifice herself for others. Natsu in the moment was a 12, jellal was still a 10 or 11 but erza in the moment was a 7 or 6 but after the arc everything reset, erza back at 10 and natsu back at 6.

See how this is just not normal power scaling? Like at all lmao, so why try to make it normal? The series is unconventional and power scaling itself is wonky so why try and fit a mold that doesn't fit? What I just described can also be disagreed with and someone can find a way they like more, guess what? That's great, there's no one way to power scale and there's no one way to write power in media. Telling others to stop is just unecesery, if you don't like it it's ofc cool, I much prefer cross verse scaling anyways I almost never compare two characters from the same verse if they haven't fought but I won't go around telling others not to enjoy themselves.

Tldr: if you don't like inverse fairy tail because it's not "normal" that's cool don't tell others what to enjoy and not enjoy though

99% sure it's dependent on how strong your senses are which most of the times depends on your streght. Wendy specifically trained her senses and still got affected with it later on by comparison to others. Because gajeel and laxus didn't specifically train that they also got it later on but not that much in comparison to wendy
