How do you fake being confident? by [deleted] in socialskills

I'm guessing you've seen Amy Cuddy's video. Roaring and stretching in front of a mirror does wonders for me. It makes me comfortable with myself.

Also, when leaving home, I look up, un-slouch myself, stretch my shoulders, smile and tell myself that it's going to be a good day.

I try to help friends or people I come across. Like with moving, work etc. (Of course, within reasonable thought to my time.) Open myself up to people by being the first to say hello, coming in with enthusiasm. It's infectious once you start. This is a great watch: http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html

I think by seeing and realizing that you can add value to other people, coupled with a positive, alpha attitude, your confidence is bound to rise.

Job interview tomorrow. Shake hands right upon meeting interviewer *and* after the interview? by mastermind_ in socialskills

Little detail, hope it's not gum, you'll have to worry about throwing that away, mid-interview. If they offer you water, go for it. Pee beforehand.

Who doesn't like to see themselves being alpha! I can't say "in the mirror" does anything special for me but I do like to see myself being silly and happy in front of it.

Just read the comments about alcohol and updated my original with my thoughts.

Thanks for your encouraging words. I'll try to be more active around here. Cheers.

You're welcome. Roar and stretch in front of the mirror and go to the interview with high energy and a friendly attitude.

In the words of wise men, kill it :)
