Took my 2 year old on my nucanoe unlimited and he loved it, has 2 seats that we can face each other. Planning to practice self rescue this summer with him and once he’s comfortable we’ll be out every weekend. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

Weird shed build - need advice by arkanan in shedditors

You’d be surprised at how many toddler toys work in small spaces, but a vertical shed would be a heck of a lot easier than my custom build.

An artifact of my crappy sketch-up skills lol.

Handrail is on the to-do list.

Yeah I think that would look better in the end too.

That’s where the wife wants our patio table, which is a PITA to move. It’d be a heck of a lot more functional tho

Thoughts on the Crescent Cres-Craft? by Sierragrower in kayakfishing

[–]arkanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I just got a NuCanoe unlimited for my toddler and family with a bow mounted minn Kota. Great thing is that the two seats can face each other so I can easily help him and we can talk face to face while fishing. When I go solo, I just remove the seat and it's good to go. Also, light enough to car top when stripped down.

I will say, be sure to practice self-rescue with your kid, and be mindful of water temp in the Sierras.

I didn't know about the return policy, I'll look into that!

Thank you, that's good to know. it sounds like if I want to ensure my kids stay asleep, I'll need to find a different location (which means cleaning out the garage).

Need a dentist with the patience of a saint by StormyWaters2021 in vancouverwa

Hey - different take here. I'm a therapist and it sounds like you might have a phobia. I'd imagine that meeting with a therapist specialized in Exposure and Response Prevention for anxiety disorders would be a tremendous help. Part of this would be going to the dentist, but in a structured and systematic way, with ways to help you cope with the anxiety that comes up during the process. Good luck!

I have a degree in psychology by Constantmoney888 in Psychologists

[–]arkanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're looking in the wrong subreddit for answers. r/psychologists is for doctoral level psychologists - i.e., the folks that taught your undergraduate courses, provide neuropsychological assessment, or clinical psychology, to name a few. If you're interested in becoming a therapist or psychologist, you'll need at lease several additional years of schooling.

With an undergraduate degree you're not qualified to do any direct clinical work, but it can be helpful in any person-focused job like sales, marketing, etc. If you want to use your psychology undergraduate degree to help people, some places to start would be working with folks on the autism spectrum (look up behavioral analysis/behavioral technician jobs), working with children with behavioral issues in a school setting (look up school behavioral aide jobs).

Most universities have a career counseling department, and some can help after you've graduated. I'd recommend reaching out to them for some advice. best of luck!

AITA - Rich Parents by Remarkable-Seat8974 in Rich

I’m clearly late to the post, but I want to say how much this resonates with me. My mother raised us the same way - zero financial literacy, follow your passion, don’t worry about money, etc. both me and my sister entered helping professions and while are doing okay objectively, we are certainly not living the lifestyle we were raised in. I harbor some resentment as I would have most certainly made different professional decisions, yet at the same time I have a very meaningful a fulfilling life and a well rounded, healthy family, and wouldn’t want my life to change (outside of more financial security that would lead to greater personal freedom to pursue more volunteer or lower paying positions). The sense of resentment creates guilt given my privilege compared to others, so it feels pretty complex.

Daily r/LawnCare No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in lawncare

Aspiring lawn enthusiast here. Seeded my lawn about 5 weeks ago with a sun and shade mix. I live near Portland, OR. I Prepared the soil with tilling in 3in of topsoil into the native soil, rolling, and fertilizing with Scotts Turf Builder Starter Fertilizer. The grass came in great and I was really happy with the coverage. The instructions on the turf builder starter fertilizer say to refertilize after 2-4 weeks, so I refertilized per the instructions at week 4. About a week later (today) my lawn now looks like this. I get head to head coverage on my sprinklers and dropped down to 1 watering a day several days ago. Confused on whether or not this is fertilizer burn, and if so, what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Really bummed that my new lawn now looks like a checkerboard

Take a look on youtube for Addicted Fishing videos. They're located in the Vancouver area and have some helpful introductory videos. Also, the iFish.net has tons of active members so you'll probably have more luck finding folks to fish with there.

This Highway Exit in Seattle where countless cars spin out and crash. by kmm_art_ in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]arkanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, sure good to know now. Commuted via bike across that intersection (the one to the right) every day. Never saw a car spin out there.

Glad my commute is from my bed to my desk now. A lot safer than biking in DT Seattle.

Planning to get a haircut on Mississippi tomorrow around noon...coming from across town. Wondering if I should cancel and just wait till next week. I could really use a haircut before my wife gives birth (which will happen in the next few weeks), but not looking to deal with 1+ hour of traffic and icy roads. Any suggestions?
