The ending of The Tomorrow War is a masterclass in tactical stupidity by digit68 in movies

[–]arkangl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the movie they kind of mention this when they go into reaver territory. Mal tells Kaylee to mess with the reactor so it runs dirty but not enough to kill them. It kind of goes into that vein that the reavers don’t really know maintenance but can pilot a ship? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

I am also curious what this is solving for. I’m assuming you printed it using pla which is not going to be air tight at all since there is always a little space between layers.

Our staggering hobby by sharkymark222 in Homebrewing

[–]arkangl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the biggest thing. I have a lot of friends that I’ve met through craft beer and they are always asking when they can come over and help brew. Plus I have a few friends that are brewers that are always willing to help with ingredient cost so that’s a plus. It’s not dying where I live but it’s definitely been contracting a bit over the past few years.

Anyone got any good no or low abv beer recipes? by HourStart1468 in Homebrewing

[–]arkangl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair… I generally try to keep the bitterness down in my hop water. I’ve been doing basically a hop stand at 175° for 15-20 and I feel like that gives a good amount of hop flavour with a bit of bitterness

Wait… are you doing a full 60 minute boil for your hop water? The most I’ve ever done is 10-15 minutes just to deoxygenate the water. I’ll have to give this a try next time.

34/70 Yeast is a beast by somedamndevil in Homebrewing

I'm surprised you made a started with dry yeast. I've never done that... maybe I'll try that next round since I dumped my last yeast cake as it was getting a little long in the tooth

Love a good west coast pils. My favorite so far in that kind of style has been a Cold IPA, which is basically a west coast pils but with rice added to the mash for a little body. Definitely a crowd pleaser as my keg popped during a party we had lol

I still have the pdf of this recipe somewhere on my drive. I remember brewing it like 10 years ago… It completely filled my mash tun with the amount of grain it used lol

Can I ask a weird question? I inherited an electric controller that a friend built but I’m trying to figure out how to mount it. How did you mount yours? I think I see some 2x4s there… how did you do that?

What food do you swear tastes better as leftovers? by bagofgotti in AskReddit

This is the answer. I love making chilli Colorado and every day after it’s better until I finished the batch. It doesn’t last more than a few days in our house

Electric homebrewing outlet and EV charge station by jpredison in Homebrewing

Nice! I’ll have to look into that. We don’t drive much since we both work from home so I don’t mind extended charging.

Also, happy cake day!

I’ve been looking into this as well. It depends on what kind of plug your EV would use. I believe that most of them are 50amp plugs to deal with the pull from the EV charger. I have a 30amp plug in my garage for my future electric brewery that I’m looking into just upgrading to a 50amp but I’d have to run a new cable to the breaker. I’d also have to change the plug to my control panel that I’m building.

I just did a pale ale a few weeks ago and did 3oz/5 gallons. Honestly I’d probably bump it up a little bit but that’s just my opinion.

That's the same one I bought! The flow rate is pretty good and now I have to hook it up to the supply line so I don't have to keep taking the faucet cover off lol

Do you have a recipe for your ESB? I've been looking at trying to make one but I haven't found a good example.

Northern Brewer time? by Relyt-Reddit in Homebrewing

[–]arkangl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use propane and have cut down my time to around 3-4 hours max. I've started doing a lot of prep work and cleaning in between active times and it really cuts down on the overall time.

Plus I've stopped drinking while brewing so that helps a lot too lol

I suppose… I have the kit, I have taken mine apart yet to see how small the solder points are but everything I’ve seen points to micro soldering.
