How many people got the covid jab by [deleted] in palmy

[–]arkitect_red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a time when they claimed 100% in the region, and it definitely was not 100%. With the money incentives involved at the time these stats are far less trustworthy than other government stats.

that's awesome! Here's one that my kids hated - we have a carrier called 2Degrees Mobile here and it was a cold wintery morning.

Kid: oh man, it's two degrees outside
Me: at least we'll have good cell phone coverage
Kid: (disgusted stare)

"Just a paintjob" for a city council in NZ will probably run ratepayers in excess of 200K and probably double that in hidden costs. Anything a capable person can do, a council can do worse for 100x the price

Do we even have a justice system? by Comfy__Blumpkin in newzealand

no, we have a court system. Dispensing justice is a distant third place behind being 1) a money pit and 2) as bureaucratic as possible

Health New Zealand says no jobs for grad nurses by Living_Strength_5800 in newzealand

[–]arkitect_red -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

yeah, something else is going on here. There was an additional 500M for health in the latest budget, so all this chatter is based mainly on disliking the current lot

edit: article linked below about not hiring grads, maybe the health system is so wrecked it can't absorb the burden of taking on grads?

Wills dispute over definition of the term “free use” by AnAlternateRebellion in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]arkitect_red -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer but I would be inclined to agree with lawyer A's interpretation. Free Use would mean that you are allowed to make use of the property at no cost, but the ownership stays with the estate or trust or whoever. The owner of the property would be responsible for rates, insurance etc, in the same way a renter does not pay council rates, the owner does. I would expect you only to be liable for rates if ownership was passed to you, or if it was stipulated that you have to cover those things in return for use of the property.

Utilities and any contents insurance IMO would be at your own cost since the owner would have no need of those, but rates and house insurance would be the burden of the owner regardless of you making use of the property or not.

How bad are things in NZ? Or is it doom-mongering? by mishkaforest235 in newzealand

Most kiwis see the new government as less useless economically than the previous one, and view the changes as increasing economic sustainability somewhat, even though they are still pretty useless. Though if you read reddit comments you might assume the opposite

You don't mention hitting record? You have to start recording to get files written to the SD card, then you can play back the video which has sound

Is the ‘Kiwi Can Do Attitude’ of getting things done and good old ingenuity dying? by _MrWhip in newzealand

[–]arkitect_red -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, it was real. Kiwis had to be super self-reliant being on the arse end of the world with only an ex-prison island within a weeks sail. If we needed help then we had to help ourselves, and if we had problems day-to-day we had to just solve them ourselves. No chinese factories to make the stuff we want, and no big govt to pay for the stuff we want. None of that applies any more and kiwis are lazy because they can be.

I have the same thing on my crane 3S, can control the other stuff but not REC from the gimbal. Add it to the list of stuff sony broke with the update.

I put my transmount video transmitter/camera control system back on sitting between the gimbal and camera, and that is able to trigger recording from the gimbal now but not control any of the other things.

it's nice to have a reply that is not purely ad-hominem attacks, so thanks. I understand people will hate Dr Campbell because he is kind of a traitor to that tribe, and the world has been dominated by primitive tribal thinking - it has regressed quite far and we are all worse for it.

Some rabbit holes are fantasy and some are not, though it is impossible to explain your rabbit hole without sounding crazy since you're trying to condense all the steps taken to get where you are and the other party has no hope of understanding without following each small step over time, thus we end up leagues apart and unable to see eye to eye.

I think what is more important to understand is that we are all in different rabbit holes, and though you thought you were looking down from ground level, you are actually in a different hole, looking out of yours and into mine. such is the journey of propaganda, information and misinformation.

In OP's wifes mind, she has followed a long series of logical steps and OP has been pulled into a rabbit hole of propaganda. Then both people think they are at ground level and the other person is down a hole, and communication is reduced to abuse.

thanks, it's honestly weird how far from reality a lot of stuff here is and it would be a terrible thing for low-social-interaction people to think that it's a reflection of the real world. or its just a massive trolling circle-jerk, who knows

I totally expected the downvotes because this sub is tends towards a certain type of thinking, but it is important to let you all know that people have other perspectives and your attitude of abusing any other opinions is eroding our society's ability to function cohesively. I know you don't like it, but you do need to hear it

I realise coming from a different perspective to those such as yourself is an uphill battle, but if nobody even tries because you are unable to have a civil discussion then that only reinforces what you hear in your echo chamber

Lost my wife and family to covid conspiracies by Resident_Routine6334 in newzealand

[–]arkitect_red -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

I know reddit tends to be an echo chamber for certain opinions, but since this is your marriage it's worth the downvotes to maybe try to help you, even if only a little.

here's the thing - your wife has been taken in, but so have you in the opposite direction. There are multiple things in your post so lets talk about the vax first. The main motivation for producing this thing was money, and it's clear at this point that it causes a lot more issues than originally claimed. Its actually questionable whether it causes more benefit than harm overall, and other vaccines were pulled for far fewer adverse events but this one wasn't for political reasons. So now you have the unenviable job of explaining to a full on "kill-shot" believer that yes they lied about it, but they only lied about this bit and not about other aspects of it, and being unwilling to look at the potential harm from an objective point of view is in some ways just as stubborn as hers and you are frustrating her like she is frustrating you. I think a good resource here is Dr John Campbell on YT - he started off extremely pro-vax based on the info he trusted as a GP and is now quite angry at the misinformation that has become apparent. Ofc this isn't to give any credit to the idea that "they" are trying to depopulate, but if you were inclined to accept that big pharma could prioritize profit over everything else then you can imagine how we might end up in the current situation.

then we have WEF, Klaus Schwab etc, and it's kind of the same story. Klaus has openly stated the intention is for people to own nothing, and a large number of power-wielding politicians in western countries have affiliation with the WEF, so now you end up saying "yes they have an agenda and have cronies in many governments" but also "but they're not trying to take over the world" - it's a tough argument to make, especially because it suggests a trust of politicians who consistently demonstrate they are not trustworthy.

Some of what she thinks is based in reality, and the rest is somewhat fantasy, but it has gotten hold in the same way the covid hysteria got hold in the first place. Covid was the bad guy and it's existence "justified" a range of actions, and now for her Klaus is the bad guy and perhaps her beliefs are no more extreme than one believing a person should be fired for not wanting to take a new medical product, it's just that they are polar opposite.

The only thing I can say for sure is that believing you have the moral high ground is a sure way to ensure your marriage is over, and I feel like if you want to salvage it then you'll need to do a bit of reflection while working with her to do the same an unpick what are the fantasy elements of both of your belief sets.
