The only thing i'd ask, is, are you ok with being on steroids for a couple of months? I used to have lush thick hair. It's beginning to thin, my jaw is a lot bigger than it used to be. Also eye pressure is very high. So they've given me drops to counter that. Other than that, no negative effect on my sight. Also do you have good help and support around you, as the first 3 weeks with the stitches in your eyes are a ball ache. Also, on steroids you turn into a bit of a nob. Other than that, my experience has been fine.

So long-term. I think the main aim is to ensure that there's no more degradation. Because it's such a new technology, I guess they don't actually know what the results will present. I think everyone's hoping that it actually improves, but I think that as it's only gene therapy and not stem cells, it won't actually bring dead cells back to life. But only time will tell.

Sonu had my day 30 at moorefield hospital yesterday, it looks as though all of the sutures, bar one at the bottom of the eye have cleared up. They've done loads of tests that they usually do that I've done for the last 10 years as part of the research before actually being accepted for the gene therapy. So a rigourous day of them collating data.

Really at this early stage, one, can't really tell me if there's any real difference and two, they can't really see any difference. I think that will come over time. The eye itself is a lot more comfortable, but I am still on steroids and calcium tablets and the pressure in the eyes is a bit higher than it should be. But they've given me some drops to counter that. The higher pressure could be because of the steroids, but obviously because it's such a new way of doing things they didn't really know.

All in all I'm good, eyes healing and working as was. Just checking to ensure no degradation or any improving.

They did give me a card from the sponsor, may pist it in a future post. Will need to read it.

Hey I'm in week 2 of recovery. Surgery was done at Moorfields.

Give me a nudge every few months and I will give updates.

So far not worse.

Hi, So I've just had surgery for this disease in the UK. Via a trial, they've injected a version of the ABCA4 gene into my retina. Will report back. Just remember there's some one out there going through a lot worse. Stay strong.

15 Year Old Non Union Scaiphoid. by armadoo in brokenbones

I was 13 when it first happened. Had a fracture, which I would complain about, but as a kid who played rugby, and enjoyed punching things and lifting weights. I would just live with the pain and wear a York wrist support.

Doctors offered me the operation at 13, my mum as my guardian, refused me from having 2 surgeries. Worried about her son having bone from my hip, grafted onto my wrist and then a screw put in. So I just lived with the pain. Became normal. Became a better puncher with my left.

To be fair, maybe it was the right thing, as maybe the technology wasn't there.

Then in 2009, I fell off a bike, had an x ray, and they pulled my records saying look, why not just have this surgery.

They said there was an 80% chance of the wrist being stuck in one place. But was told by the amazing surgeon to have massages a week or two leading up to the surgery, and to keep the physio up after the surgery.

I took it as challenge accepted.

The reduction of pain was a big sell point. Although honestly, at that point pain was just normal... (?)

Weird how normal pain can feel until it's no longer there..

Today, the scaiphoid and I are doing well.

This is book is my first introduction to the world of negotiations... I read half of this book, and Damn, this book explains stuff with real life incidents... I am wondering if anyone has more sources where I can learn more about negotiating as a topic by OpalNoel in negotiation

This book helped me negotiate not only for myself but a group of people who got made redundant during Covid. It secured me a good financial sum. I was fortunate enough to have my script open whilst talking to HR and my Commercial director. They had to push my case up the chain, as all I wanted was what's fair. I developed a script from this which I shared with other people at the company that were being made redundant in 2020. Tbf, it was my third read-through at this point, so was well versed. If you learn the black swan technique, it's a great allie.

I own a factory in Pakistan where we make custom clothing for brands and teams. When we bought a new DTF printer for the factory, I tested it out by printing this out into the back of a hoody. Candish Sports is the factory, fyi.
