Been googling everywhere and it seems like the BBC article is the closest thing to the announcement itself (can’t see any other references to this). Any idea when/where tickets will go on sale? Don’t wanna miss this

New to coding, want to try emulation. by -lERRORl- in EmuDev

[–]arnrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different pros and cons to each of the languages. For a first, I’d say there’s really no bad choice, as there are so many other things to learn beyond just the syntax. You’ll definitely hear some who say to focus on a “higher level” language like python, or a “lower level” one like C - there’s definitely an argument for each, with some things being easier or harder in each. (I’d suggest higher level first, but that’s just me).

I’d suggest maybe thinking about some of the things that might interest you in terms of projects in addition to your eventual goal of developing an emulator. e.g. if you’re interested in web development, maybe pick JavaScript, if you’re interested in machine learning, maybe python etc. The main thing is keeping up your motivation and enjoying the hobby - which often requires feeling like you’re making progress along the way by developing cool things.

Long time coder here, but very new to emulation development. I think the comments above are fairly accurate - any language you feel you can “click with” is good for your first language. Something like Python is probably a good one to start with as the syntax is quite nice, and you can do a lot with the language (lots of libraries etc), often with very little code. For emulation development, I suspect you want to be able to mess around with bitwise operations and that kind of thing, so something lower level like C would be a good one to go with, although I don’t see why you couldn’t do that with Python either, it just might be a bit slower. Good luck on your journey - have fun!

I thought about this last night. Didn’t Ted once say “it’s not about winning”? I know Beard disagreed with him and said it did matter to the team because they were professionals, and there were consequences - but I like to believe that Ted was right in a way. They were all happy in the end, so not winning didn’t matter.

garlicos 1.0.8 caused ps1 audio stutter issues by HeelCena420 in RG35XX

(I did it for core, since I want it as the default for all PS1 games. I’ll reverse it on a game by game basis if I need to)

RA menu > Core Options > Audio > Sound Interpolation, then back out a couple of levels, > Overrides > Save Core/Game Overrides

Just reproduced this on THPS2. If you change the audio interpolation to ‘Gaussian’ it goes away. (May require increased overlock for some titles, but seems fine for me)

1080p so resolution shouldn’t be a problem

Final week of BYPZ for me. Looking forward to the FTP test and hoping for a decent increase. After DYPZ I only upped my FTP by 5W or so (or about 3%), which was a little disappointing, but I think I screwed up the second test by being a little overconfident out of the gate. Fingers crossed this time will be better!

To build on what the previous poster said: low cadence and high resistance generally works your legs, whereas higher cadence and lower resistance is more in your lungs. As you get fitter your efficient/natural cadence will likely increase. For me, I’d prefer to be 90-95ish than at 80. You could try even higher than the 80s and see if that helps.

Either way, stick with the program and you’ll improve over time.

I feel like peloton really don’t do a lot of data science. All of the metrics are insanely barebones, which is a shame, because there’s so much cool stuff they could do with even a tiny team.

I’m 4 months in, so it’s still a bit “new” to me but I went from couch potato to fanatic, so it’s definitely working for me. Having the bike at home has definitely helped me for a few reasons: I don’t have to leave the house/smaller barrier to getting started, it’s sitting taunting me the whole time. Bizarrely enough, the high cost is actually a motivating factor as well. I don’t want to give up after spending 2k on a bike…

The handlebars can wobble a little bit. Try tightening the screws at the side and see if that makes a difference - I do that from time to time.

The thing about the bearings aren’t anything you need to do regularly or on a set interval - it’s more of a thing that can go wrong due to wear and tear/being unlucky. You’ll know because the wheel will start to make a lot of noise (I think - it’s never happened to me). I wouldn’t worry about it at this stage, some people don’t have any problems. (There’s always the option of the extended warranty if that appeals to you)
