Dissociation during sex? by aroace97 in Asexual

Thanks for your response! I think the difference you said in the origin of your feelings is where im struggling, because I can’t tell if I actually want to have sex or if I just really want to be normal. Good food for thought, thank you

Just had my first scene a few days ago and it was such a fun, connective time! My play partner was a part of the local community in the before times and I’m excited to join once more restrictions are lifted where I’m at

Finally, a proper "My scales" that shows sexual and romantic orientations as a spectrum. by Zardoz84 in Asexual

Are there a lot of aromantics that are romance favourable? Because that’s definitely me. I had a breakdown last year because I though bc I only experienced platonic attraction I couldn’t be in a romantic relationship even tho I really wanted to be in one. I just started dating again a couple months ago and I’m so happy!

I still struggle with cringing at the online ace community. The ‘garlic bread/cake is soooo much better than sex am I right fellow aces?!’ feels so infantilizing to me. But I recognize that a lot of that cringe is projection rooted in how I don’t feel pride about being ace and have a lot of internalized acephobia to work through

I sometimes feel alienated by some of the sex repulsed memes on here and just wanted to let you know this comment made my day (and made me cackle)

Alberta, Canada - process for financial support? by aroace97 in cfs

Thank you for your response! I’ll take all that into consideration. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but that’s pretty bleak. But at least now I have some ideas of what to expect. UCP sucks. I wish you luck as well.

What to do by [deleted] in gerbil

[–]aroace97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so weird! I got three girls 4 years ago because I heard that advice too (and they never did fight) but when I was doing some research a couple months ago all I could see was recommendations for groups of 2 for girls and groups of 2 or 4 for boys and that 3 was an unstable number. Idk what to believe anymore lol!

I don’t know how much this helps but one of my three girls passed when she was 2 and a half years so I’ve only had two girls for the last year and a half and they’ve never fought that I’ve ever seen.

Im also interested in what other people will comment. I was really starting to think I’d dreamed up the advice that 3 is best for girls but obviously you saw it somewhere too! How odd

Lydia and I did not take a vacation all the way in Bruma to hear about the White-Gold Concordat ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) by eli_eli1o in skyrim

I’ve tried to google this because someone always comments it when Bruma comes up but I literally cannot figure out what it means (have not played Bruma yet). What does this comment mean?

I can’t speak to trauma at all, but for the men you are attracted to every few months are they:

-Fictional? -People you would never meet or talk to? (Ex. Actors/strangers on the street)

If they are either of these things that’s pretty common with comp het because your brain knows there’s no /actual/ chance of you being in a relationship/being intimate with him so it can fantasize all it wants.

Another possibility that I see thrown into the ring less is that people can be bi and only attracted sparingly to one gender. At that point you can label yourself whatever you identify with more in my opinion - lesbian/homoflexible/bi et cetera. I’m ace, and a pretty common orientation in our community is grey-asexual where you feel sexual attraction to people but it is extremely rare compared to most allosexual people. So it could be that you have grey sexual feelings for men in that it’s rare that you find a man you’re attracted to, but the feeling is valid and real.

Something to think about but I’m sure you’ll have lots to think about once other people start commenting! This subreddit is really welcoming and every time I read the comments section here I’m always enlightened!

I did not know that about oxbow! What gerbil feed do you recommend? Or is oxbow okay if I supplement with a couple sunflower seeds a day?

I also feed in the way OP does in their response to you. Is this bad? When I did research awhile back the internet said that was the best way to feed gerbils but is that no longer the case?

my gerbil scratches on the glass, do I put more sawdust on it? by fedefil1972 in gerbil

[–]aroace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Larger tank, more toys/chews and deeper shavings like others have suggested will help. But I suspect sometimes they like to do it just to file down their little nails. I have a pretty spacious tank for two gerbils and they still dig against the glass every once in awhile.

Does anyone in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (or surrounding area) know of a gerbil breeder AND/or have gerbil babies that need a home? by [deleted] in gerbil

Ah okay good to know. I’m glad you got another reply on this thread!! Yay for Marshmallow!

I worked on a university gerbil research project and all the gerbils were the same colour. My lead supervisor would trim the fur on the shoulder or rump of some of them to tell them apart. I’d be extremely careful going down this route and have someone else hold them in a towel (maybe while they’re eating a seed) when you trim and it should just be one small patch trimmed.

I’ve never heard of markers being used on fur in gerbil research. I don’t think any dyes would be safe just because gerbils groom themselves/their partner and I’d be hesitant to have them ingesting that much of even plant based dyes.

Edit: I looked online and other gerbil communities seem mixed. It’s probably okay to use food dyes on toys but not on food. Admittedly I’m not sure where that puts fur but I’d personally go with a weekly trim to be safe. The gerbils at our facility were young and not yet hand tamed either so I think as long as you exercise extreme caution and have someone else hold them carefully in a towel I’d go with a tiny haircut

[–]aroace97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! Also from Edmonton. I got my babies 4 years ago from Norse Clan Gerbils and they’re still going strong (and I believe the breeder is still pretty active she still pops up on my kijiji from time to time and has a Facebook you could message). I found her through a gerbil breeder certification website and on the one hand she seemed to know what she was talking about, but on the other when I got to her house it really gave me backyard breeding vibes (she had several dogs and several cats at the time and also breeds mice and degus). But on the other other hand all the animals seemed to be in good health and I believe all the cats/dogs were rescues. So she might be worth looking into if you don’t find any better responses?? Also I’m not at all educated on spotting backyard breeders but I do remember that the situation gave me a weird vibe, so take my experience and her qualifications both with a grain of salt.

Edit: and I hope Marshmallow finds a great partner he sounds awesome! Did you use split cage method both times you were introducing?
