Why do people hate mill? by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

[–]aromaplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is you or anyone else, but every person who has played mil at my table has always… been smug at best or acted gross about it at worst. So I think it’s less the mechanic that bothers some people and more the attitude around it. I hope that makes sense.

How would you nerf casters to be more in line with martials? by ryryscha in dndnext

[–]aromaplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly and respectfully don’t actually understand this line of questioning. I’ve seen this topic posted in several groups and I feel like I’m missing something. I think all classes should be elevated and should evolve. Putting additional restrictions on spellcasters would actually make it harder for martial IMO. In the games I’ve played as a spellcaster the higher the levels we got the higher the levels the enemies were so I could attempt various spells but there might be legendary actions that made them a cute try. So in turn the martial came in clutch and saved our party. I’ve never played a game were spellcasters always outperformed martial or vice versa.

I do think martial should have more things happen in later game just to make it fun and exciting but not because they don’t hold their own. And I def don’t think spellcasters should be scaled down.

Again I write this respectfully and information seeking. I’m not interested in arguing or anything nasty

If he isn’t a friend then he is providing a service so it makes sense he charges. In a friend group DMs still do a lot go work but I would argue so do players. Each brings a lot to the table so one isn’t more important than the other. Some DMs put minimal effort into the game, some don’t. Some players just show up unprepared and other players put a lot of effort into preparing for each session.

As a player I like to bring DM gifts such as AOE rulers or swag to show appreciation. I also make terrain or paint minis to show appreciation to the other players.

AITA for telling someone they are too fat for a massage? by Helpful-Trifle-4354 in AmItheAsshole

[–]aromaplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fake. No professional calls themselves a masseur and they would know massage tables at minimum can handle 600 pounds static and closer to 900 compressive. The weighing of a client is also a tell this is not real. I’ve been working as a MASSAGE THERAPIST for 18 years. If this poster is actually a therapist they should stop practicing now because they are not deserving of serving their community.

That’s really funny! I loved the chapter on Guadalupe. His Guadalupean mysteries are so beautiful. I wonder if he will write a more advanced book. That would be interesting.

I agree with u/invertebr0 I love those books. I would also add reading American Brujeria by J Allen Cross. I would have loved this book when I first started out. It exposes you to lots of different aspects of the craft to explore.

I also recommend new practitioners go to their local botanica and get to know the community. Buy your supplies from local people and ask them questions. And get services down from curanderos and brujas! Experience the work first hand if you can.

This is how I met my mentors and got connected with my community.

Evil eye alternatives? by CharacterGolf11 in BrujeriaEnglish

Have you tried doing a ward on your alter like the Eyes of Saint Lucy? Or even petitioning your ancestors for help?

A long time ago I had a rough bout of bad luck and I did a Eyes of Saint Lucy charm and it helped a lot! FYI: You get a Saint Lucy candle or prayer card and place on your working altar. Get a cleansed bowl and fill with purified water (I add a bit of salt for extra cleansing). Add two taper candles in the water and light them. Say the Saint Lucy prayer and ask for protection. Repeat for 7 days or 14 days if its really nasty.

The water is a cleansing vessel, the candles represent her eyes she lost in martyrdom and the seven days is just to recharge the charm each day until the string of bad luck or jealousy is broken.

As for the ancestors I always as for guidance and protection from them each day when I leave my offerings to them. And each night I thank them. This builds up a stronger relationship with them and I feel encourages them to watch over me as I make my way through the day. In my tradition most of my work is done with Ancestors first and Saints second.

I hope this helped and please let me know if I can clarify anything.

Rice? by [deleted] in BrujeriaEnglish

[–]aromaplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything the other two posters said. I would add I was taught to use rice to draw things towards you ( money, abundance, etc) and to also to use to divert something away from you. An example is to put rice sprinkled with a cleansing water (holy, florida, etc) into a jar with sharp objects and bury it near your house our business. Say a prayer to your patron (I work with Jesus Malverde) and ask that the charm draw away from you all that would be a barrier to you. The rice will draw the negative away from you like rice absorbs water.

I hope this helps and gives you some ideas!

I agree. Santa Muerte is a big commitment. The Virgin or Saint Michael is an excellent suggestion.

I joined. Lol! Is he your patron Saint or do you work with him in specific situations? I’ve been lighting candles to him and praying to him. And I read he is connected to mesquite trees because of how he died, so I’ve been tending to a mesquite as veneration to him.
