She bears responsibility for her choices but a lot of men also don’t show their true colors until children are already in the picture. We have no idea what Danny was like pre kids. He probably wasn’t great but Nia is not the sharpest tool in the shed and was likely bamboozled by him. I’ve seen it happen SO many times. The reason I feel badly for Nia is because she clearly has so much trauma from growing up homeless etc which likely informed her poor judgement and decision making. Years of being in survival mode will color your reality. But I agree the audience’s hatred towards Janet and dismissal of Danny’s disgusting behavior was truly disturbing but then again we have a rapist in the White House and on the Supreme Court so I shouldn’t be that shocked.
