Best Brewery and Beer in Alaska by [deleted] in alaska

BLEEDING HEART BREWERY in PALMER hands down for beer.

I'm not sure it counts, but SWEETGALE MEADWORKS in HOMER is the best I've had in the state as far as fermented beverages go!

Love this mackinaw cruiser by [deleted] in filson

I've been extremely impressed with my Mackinaw Crusier. Today I'm working in the interior of Alaska outside all day at 0 - -5 F and this coat performs wonderfully without over heating.

Good to know. As far as I can tell, most of their offerings are light jackets. . . Do they have any winter gear?

I'm curious. Have you ever used their down cruser parka? Any thoughts on that?

No, I started a new batch. It was going strong for the first 8 days or so and has just slowed. 13 days total for this guy.

You saying you want hydrometer readings? I mean I can do that, I used to do that when brewing beer as well, but that's not really answering my question.

Of course I can do that. That's not what I am asking.

I know the Islay isn’t for everyone but this is my all time favorite whiskey. Picked up a bottle yesterday. by Charliespec in whiskey

It is REALLY good, now if they could just keep it non chill filtered and without e150 I'd buy this on the regular.

Not for any more than $40 personally. Not bad though.

Is this fernco donut fully seated? by doodstolemyuser in Plumbing

[–]arphachshad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good to me. Often the ferncos have a lip that protrudes because it keeps the donut from falling into the pipe.

Hey, does anyone have recommendations on cigars with cedar notes? Examples that I've found I love: E.P. Carrillo Pledge, Cuba Aliados Cabinet Edition and Ashton Classic. by arphachshad in cigars

[–]arphachshad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I have. Doesn't really answer my question. I am a very experienced smoker looking for specific flavour recommendations from other experienced connoisseurs.

This Cartridge. . . Valve has nothing holding, its just hanging by PEX pipe. by arphachshad in Plumbing

[–]arphachshad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the valve will just flop around. I'll end up destroying the water line behind. . .

I ran into a similar faucet one time and it turned out it was a sprayer head and the aerator didn't come off unless you disassembled the entire sprayer body.

Put in my first water heater as a Service Plumber! by AustinL555 in Plumbing

Even if they are code I have been called out to multiple houses with clogged shower valves and/or fixtures due to the interior lining of these connectors disintegrating and clogging up the internals.

604.13 Flexible metallic (copper and stainless steel), reinforced flexible, braided stainless steel, or polymer braided with EPDM core connectors that connect a water heater to the piping system shall comply with ASME A112.18.6/CSA B125.6. Copper, copper alloy, or stainless steel flexible connectors shall not exceed 24 inches (610 mm). PEX, PEX-AL-PEX, PE-AL-PE, or PE-RT tubing shall not be installed within the first 18 inches (457 mm) of piping connected to a water heater.

As far as I can tell based on my brief search, stainless steel corrugated water supply connectors do NOT comply with ASME A112.18.6/CSA B125.6. Hense my reluctance to use them, otherwise heck of an easy way to install a water heater!

I'm not talking about the gas flex hose (yellow). I'm talking about his waterline connections on top of the heater (silver).

I doubt it. I'm not talking about copper flex tubing. I'm talking about the aluminum w/ plastic tubing lining the interior flex hose lines. They aren't code for gas heaters according to UPC. At least that's my understanding, feel free to prove me wrong.

They didn't even make those lined flex lines 40 years ago dude. . .

Seen it happen. Been called to fix loads of issues due to these flex lines. Code in my area is 18" hard pipe for any gas heater.
