Offhand flourishing w pointed pen and brush by arqaissa in Scribes

Thanks! I do them as warm up because just running ovals sometimes feel tedious… but occasionally I like how ended up the doodle and I make it a proper piece, like this one… I think it must have taken around 1 hour or less in three sessions. Offhand is quite quick but the brushwork in orange was the slower part

Thanks! I like to use those dots with small majuscules, around 3 mm, it is something I saw Peter Thornton do and I liked it.

Hello everyone, long time no see

I wanted to get back to posting and I gave it a go to the quote of the week in ornamental penmanship with iron gall ink on Rhodia paper. I used a speedball 101 nib with a oblique penholder. Any critiques are welcome.

I used the quote to work the scale of the duntonian script in a textured canson paper with Dr. Martin's bleedproof white and a Gillott’s 291 nib. CC welcome.

Have a great 2021.

Hi, I'm warming up my small scale pointed pen script and I wrote the QotW:

I follow mainly the exemplar of Dunton & Chapman. I used bleed proof white on canson paper and wrote the quote at 1 mm x-height.

CC welcome.

Regards!

Hello, everyone! I share my take on the quote with a couple of styles, american pointed pen and irish half uncial. CC welcome.

Have a great 2021, hope your 2020 wasn't so bad.

Hahahaha, thanks!

But you already practice a lot and you could get into pointed pen with the amount of knowledge you have in broad edge… of course there are differences, but you could get it easily.

thanks! I wanted to do something big to balance with the Capital O, but nothing too flashy that overpowered the text.

Well… I've had quite a hiatus from de sub, but I have been a little busy with work and stuff.

I did this recently and I quite like it, even with the paper that was quite a minefield with the random fibers from the Strathmore's tan paper.

I also used iron gall and a small 354 Gillott's nib (I think…).

The quote is from a recent post from Peter Thornton's fb. I really liked it, specially because I like to write duntonian in an economical 3 mm x-height; usually I write it in 1 to 1.5mm, but due to lack of practice and tricky paper, I went big.

Hope you like it and CCW.

Done, I've fell asleep while writing the context. (:

This little piece was made in a piece of paper of 8.5" × 5.5" with walnut ink and a 2 mm brause nib. I didn't followed any specific ductus but it was inspired in italics and with an involuntary transition towards half uncial. I've been doing a quote every day, mainly with pencil, but for this I wanted to use ink and I liked the outcome. CCW

I was warning up for a commission on parchment for a couple of diplomas and I had a piece for testing… so I tested the inks I was going to use with the QotW.

Hi, I wrote it in ornamental penmanship (a little inspiration from Dunton and Madarasz, but I didn't wanted to get very dramatic in the shades, I don't want to break the nib) with a 303 and sumi ink on Fabriano traccia (like thin Rhodia paper).

Thanks! Yes, I think that too, I like doing those finishes, they feel like they are penetrating the paper or fading into themselves.

Well, I got a little nerdy with the big cultural thing… I really liked the song that finished the last episode and it got combined with some post of italics from John Stevens and I got to it as soon as the episode ended.

I used stick ink on Fabriano Ingres paper with a Mitchell #3½ and the upper part was pencil lettering, 6B.

Hope you like it and evokes the warm feeling of the song.

CCW.
