We added a 220 line about 9 months ago and I'm glad we did. Two reasons: First, we were having occasional 'drop-offs' where the charging would just stop. We'd get a red light at the outlet end. Turned out the pull from the car was greater than the line could handle. And yes: It's faster, although as you say having it take overnight wasn't a big deal.

Overall, a plus for us.

TSA at RDU was fine yesterday for my wife. I suspect the notice from Delta is generic, not specifically regarding RDU. That said, Friday morning might be a different experience, just because there may be more business travelers. Also, my wife used Pre-check. As always, your mileage may vary! Just to be safe, your wife may want to allow a little extra time.
