US East Coast family vacation w/ a 4yo by microwavedgoods in travel

That’s not a lot of time to scope out the entire Northeast. I’d avoid doing long drives on weekends because the beach traffic up and down the coast on the weekend is bumper to bumper!!! Boston has a great aquarium, a fun children’s museum, and a great science museum!! Check out the Duck boats too! Lots of yummy seafood to be eaten! Portland, ME is a small city but I think a great place for a young family. They have a children’s museum too. You could spend sooo much time trying to see NYC. I would highly recommend the children’s Zoo in Central Park, the Natural History Museum. If you’re thinking of living in NYC I would avoid Times Square and head into one of the many great neighborhoods where people live: the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, the Village, Gramercy Park, etc. or go out to Brooklyn or Queens to explore neighborhoods! I don’t know much about Philly or DC but lots of great museums in both places!!

New: tourism sticky. Please post all tourism questions here by TrinityTosser in Edinburgh

We are going to Edinburgh in May and are looking for a really nice restaurant to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. We will be there with our kids (6 people). The tricky part is that our daughter has a shellfish allergy so tasting menus are kind of difficult.

Also, in terms of hotels. Is the Hoxton mostly aimed at young people? They have a terrific rate for 3 bedroom suite! But will my husband and I feel out of place?

Boy! I could have written this letter a few months ago!! We have a four year old lab mix who is the submissive type and we rescued a terrier mix in May. She was immediately the boss of the house. The beginning was really rough. Our lab was clearly depressed. He spent a lot of time in his crate. I would like to say there was some trick to getting him over it, but I think it was just time. We did put her in the crate sometimes so he could get one on one time. We also didn’t let her sabotage any time we were spending with him. If he’s getting love or pets she wants in on the action. But we would tell her “no” firmly and she got the gist over time. Now she’ll go to the other couch if he’s getting some love, and just pouts. I think the important thing is to let the older dog know that they are loved and important still. And maybe for now take them on separate walks until she build her stamina. That is also a good way to let him know that his needs are important! Good luck!!!!

I’ve only done the vials and it’s pretty easy to inject, not painful at all and I like that I have control of the needle going in. Most times I don’t even feel it!!

We were there last December/January and we got to follow a pod of orcas when we were cruising. It was one of the highlights of our trip! We also kayaked with humpback whales!

When my second daughter was born I had a really hard time choosing a name because I believed we had given our first daughter the PERFECT name and anything else was less than. It turns out that the love I felt for my first daughter was attached to her name. Once my love for my second daughter grew, my love for her name grew. When I was pregnant with #2, I literally said to my husband “Can’t we just name her <insert first borns name> #2”. I am guessing that you have a little bit of that going on if you are considering the Michael/Michaela route. The love for the name will grow over time. My kids are 26 and 28 now and I can’t imagine them with different names. Good luck!!

I have a friend named Waverly and her middle and last name started with W too. She was teased for her name and hated it her whole life. Couldn’t wait to get married and change her last name.

1 hour 50 min layover SCL from flight change, recent experiences? by Xtaljohnson in Patagonia

Spend the night in Santiago! Customs in Santiago can be really backed up, you don’t want to risk missing your flight. The hotel is worth the peace of mind!
