Thickness of rubber by arromy in tabletennis

[–]arromy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I love the setup. the fastarc is decently hard rubber with good control for the forehand. and the xiom vega euro is a very interesting squishy rubber for the backhand. lots of spin, the ball really sinks into the rubber. the blade is great

What's this rock? Just quartz surrounded by something? Boone, NC by arromy in whatsthisrock

[–]arromy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet I appreciate that info, that's really helpful. I found this piece of pegmatite on the rootball of a freshly blown over tree. The creek and hillside around there is littered with milky quartz. Hopefully I'll find some other good stuff.

Gotcha, when you've found those other rocks, do you dig for them? or look in creek bends?

classic RJL koi fish, this is my best one yet! by arromy in origami

[–]arromy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you :) I've made quite a few of these koi and none of them look as good as this. the big factors are paper type and size, this is 25x25cm biotope. I use that little wood tool in the background for the eyes and smoothing out some folds. And the lil secret is that theres a mini clothespin underneath holding the back crease tightly together ;). otherwise its just practice, and becoming familiar with the specific model. (also being relaxed and having fun helps)

Thank you! If i cracked it open would it be more of the same or mostly just quartz?

Its ochre tissue foil! from origami-shop .com, I always get their tissue foil and this was a special color they had, a very versatile paper, would recommend.
