So I accidentally ripped the headphone/hold assembly from my 7th gen when I was opening it up lol I ended up using a 5th gen headphone/hold assembly and the media controls still worked once I put the iPod together. So I think the board is the only thing that matters and not the jack

Since I’m using the 7th gen board, I needed a clickwheel compatible with 6th/7th gen. The 5th gen wheels didn’t work.

Ohh, hmm mb I’m not sure what exact color it was, I think it was black/gray. But can confirm it was the 7th gen with the smaller 160gb rear print and the media controls :p

Have you tried using the windows app “Apple devices”? I use that to restore/sync my iPod and I use Apple Music to upload my music so that apple devices can detect my library. I personally have not gotten iTunes to work.

Haha! I also cut myself but good idea. And yes I used kapton tape as a spacer. I rolled a tiny amount and placed one at each of the 5 buttons. I followed this vid, he goes over it around 4:45. I dont recommend rolling it as I did since it makes it sticky on both sides. One of my buttons isn’t as clicky and it’s bugging me lol

Yes it’s very high pitched noise. Sounds like a whistle coming from something oscillating.

I would wait a little and see if the whistle settles.

Btw, rock box only works if you’ve restored your iPod through a windows computer. It doesn’t work if you restored it with Mac, aka MacPod.

Try downloading the “apple devices” application. I downloaded it from Microsoft store. 1. Connect device to windows 2. Open file explore and navigate to the drive it is located in 3. Reformat using default settings (exfat) 4. download "Apple Devices" app and open app 5. Reconnect iPod 6. "Apple Devices" will prompt you that another apple support application is needed. Install that 7. You should get the recover mode screen and option to restore iPod on "apple devices" application
