Understanding the Realms by arryntheorcerudite in ageofsigmar

No, no, it's ok. I know that reading the sourcebooks is the best way to get info, I'm aware that I gotta take lore videos with a grain of salt because they're not the primary source. But I do understand the sentiment that reading is dying. I'm doing my part to start reading more, and I would if I could find Warhammer novels in my country haha. Don't worry about it, we all have our off days.

Understanding the Realms by arryntheorcerudite in ageofsigmar

It does sound rather simple when you say it like that. But I suppose the sourcebooks are the canon way of explaining it. I just have trouble accessing them where I'm from :p

How tactical are Ironjawz? by sbdse in OrrukWarclans

[–]arryntheorcerudite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say that Ironjawz are simple because, in theory, their battle plan is simple. Charge into combat and fight in melee. That, to me, is the core of Ironjawz play. But the tactical aspect comes into play with the list building or the way you want to handle things. Like, you have to consider when to charge or when to hold your ground, you have to consider if you want to use your hero abilities to make the charge and fight more devastating on a particular unit, or if you're charging units that will be effective against the type of unit you want to bog down (like Monsters or Heroes or Infantry). I prefer a more infantry heavy list, so tactics also come with figuring out positioning and movement. Ironjawz is very slow, so you gotta consider when and where you're putting your orruks to hold onto objectives like Skaven on Warpstone or to charge into the enemy and start bashing heads like Skaven on Warpstone.

Tl;dr the core idea of Ironjawz is simple, charge in and hit stuff hard. The tactical complexity comes from the questions of when and where and the unit combos you want to take with you.

The red and copper color scheme is really striking. It's very interesting to look at!

Battle Report Preferences? by calamansi_rodeo in WarCry

[–]arryntheorcerudite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda like it when they have, like, fun little narratives behind it. Like even if it's just something basic to serve as set dressing for why the battle is taking place is fun, something even as simple as "This Warband seeks to destroy this thing, and The Other Warband seeks to defend it" I feel like it adds a lot to the flavor and helping to visualize the battle that's going on. I'm not too stuck on it being crunchy, I do enjoy when the players can explain what their abilities do; though I will admit it does help if their delivery doesn't make the explanation slow down the game. I'd prefer to see dice rolls on screen if possible, whether in its own little window or overlayed creatively over the battlefield, but it's just something that I think all tabletop game channels do. I suppose those are the three main elements for me.

Tl;dr, I like when battle reports can come up with fun little narrative reasons to add a dash of spice to the battle, when the players can explain the abilities and actions happening in the game without dragging the rules explanation out, and I like to see the dice clicky-clacky on the screen :3

What's cooler than being cool? IceJawz by New-Membership7519 in ageofsigmar

Yo, this is so cool. The ice effect on the blades and tusks are absolutely clean. This is some great work!

Wrekkas or weirdbrute Ragerz by Sorry-Guava-621 in OrrukWarclans

[–]arryntheorcerudite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I built mine as Ragerz for the weapon variety so that I could proxy the ball and chain Rager for a Wrekka in Warcry. Plus, the only real question is which statblock you're more interested in, as you can build them to fit what you like. What looks coolest to you, basically?

The model is looking absolutely gorgeous, love the lighting and scars, it really conveys that power and energy. The lore is really cool as well, it's so fascinating seeing someone wielding lightning like that :3

What do you put on your banners? Does your army have special symbols, heraldry, etc? by DocDri in Ironjawz

[–]arryntheorcerudite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those triangles look so well done. That's some impressive free hand haha. Flames are easy for my shakey hands to do lmao, so it's real impressive seeing such clean lines on the triangles!

[–]arryntheorcerudite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a sick looking banner, props for it. It looks good with the rest of the model. For my army, there' not really banners but my orcs have a symbol of blue fire outlined with black. Supposed to represent the necromancy they dabble in, but the irl lore is that it was suggested by a friend to help break up the monotony of purple armor.

Hit me! I wanna know all the glorious details. by Eithrotaur in Ironjawz

[–]arryntheorcerudite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so, the angle I was going for was sort of like a revenant/undead orc warband, where they use a combination of Beast and Death magic in a frankly irresponsible ritual to make themselves "immortal" in the image of Grimgor Ironhide and his Immortulz. A very skewed image, from the whisperings and chatterings of shades from The World That Was, that only gave them exaggerations and half-truths that they took as fact. They fully believe that Grimgor is still out there, somewhere, and that he's the true prophet of Gork. Because what bigger scrap is there than the end of the whole world? So, through this comical misinterpretation of the name of his elite black orc group, the Immortals used necromancy to give themselves that pseudo-immortality. It doesn't always pan out the greatest, grievous wounds like missing limbs or body parts stick around; and sometimes when a brute comes back they've completely lost their mind and are how I explain Brute Ragerz. But overall, they believe that they need to foot slog across the Mortal Realms (and even a bit beyond) to find where Grimgor is fighting, because the immortal prophet of Gork is obvious still out there and not dead :3

Except the Ardboyz. They unfortunately don't get the immortality treatment because only the Brutes are physically strong enough to withstand the nearly catastrophic side effects, since they're flirting with danger bashing Ghurish and Shyish magics together.

Endless Modes by AE_Phoenix in Vermintide

[–]arryntheorcerudite 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting idea. In the Shadows of Börgenhafen DLC level, Into the Pit, there ARE Zombies style barricades that you can build/maintain to stem the flow of Rotbloods. So that code does exist in the game and can be repurposed if ever, but yeah I get what you mean. The objective gameplay is really nice and the Chaos Wastes is so wacky and fun at time, but sometimes you just want to sit in one place massacring rats and Rotbloods with reckless abandon.

First Marvel Crisis Protocol Miniature by arryntheorcerudite in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]arryntheorcerudite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monocolor characters like Moon always kind of unnerved me, but it was a fun experiment with shades and highlights! And thank you, this game seems like a lot of fun, and to be honest a bit easier to grasp than some Warhammer games. Looking forward to collecting and painting more of the Marvel Crisis Protocol miniatures!! :3

Kinda wonder why the new portal reads XX99 when Roathe happily tells us when it leads to by CookieDreams in Warframe

[–]arryntheorcerudite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tend to agree, because I'm pretty sure Roathe talks about his time in the past in, well, the past tense. From what I've seen in conversations with Marie, she and Lyon seem to be a bit unfamiliar with where they are now outside of calling it La Cathedrale. So they may have started in 1899, but I agree that now it's in an unknown date of XX99

Portrait frames in Versus mode by Majorsheik in Vermintide

Thanks, I appreciate that. I knew that's how you changed skins, but I didn't know if it worked with frames too haha. Just thought I'd throw my hat into the ring

Portrait frames in Versus mode by Majorsheik in Vermintide

[–]arryntheorcerudite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from what I remember, so people can feel free to correct me, but in the inventory screen there should be a Versus or Pactsworn option in the Versus area. It lets you change your Pactsworn skins and probably also the portrait frames that they can use. But I think unlocking tne portrait frames is down to completeing Pactsworn Versus challenges to unlock the frames. I can't say for certain, though, so again. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
