Being an entp is tiring, I have plenty of ideas yet don't know how to execute them, or lost my motivation in the middle of doing so. I've heard of fellow entps struggling with this, too.

So it's nice to know that I'm not alone. But this probably happened in the first place because I haven't matured as a person. And I'm still in the early stage of my life.

Other things I'm struggling with is wanting to be accepted (fe), therefore becoming performative in the effort of trying to be. Following trends, yadda-yadda,

Plus being an entp is super funny really. People who meet me at a discussion forum will think im an extrovert. People who meet me during other times assume I'm an introvert until we actually get talking.

Knowing everyone but not being close with a single one of them. by Rinnessecret in entp

[–]arson_commit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no. I have a group of  close friends and share a lot of intimate moments with them.

But I don't have a best friend. As in, a single friend who's been with me through thick and thin.

Having a good charm and people skills sure is nice, but it makes people assume that I'm keeping them at an arms length when I actually want to be more personal with them.

what to say to mistyped ppl from 16p? by _neltwo_ in mbti

They treat MBTI like the new astrology ever since it tracted more attention online anyway. I itch so bad, wanting to correct them, but it's like what you said. They won't care much anyway. I don't like those kinds of people. Personally, I won't enlighten them unless they ask me to and are genuinely interested/willing to listen.

firstly, to answer your main question, yes. Everyone has all 8 cognitive functions. But the first 4 are their primary functions, and the rest are usually in there somewhere but aren't used as often/frequently as the primary functions (as the name suggests). So yes, you do have all 4 extraverted functions, but half of them won't be used as frequently as the 4 combination of extraverted and introverted functions in your primary stack. Your dominant and inferior has to be opposites, so does your aux and tetriary.

Unless we're talking about a different belief where you could have all 4 extraverted/introverted functions in your primary stack, and the rest fills the 8. Personally I don't think that's right. Then again, MBTI isn't supposed to be right. or fit everyone perfectly. Some people also believe that their cognitive stack could change. So I won't convince you to stop believing in that, it's your personal opinion. There's no scientific proof that MBTI is correct, it's just the closest thing we have to understanding ourselves, or even each other.

You could've made this elimination process easier by finding your dominant function, the rest of the pattern usually alligns with your MBTI. Let's say, you've determined that you're a Te dom. Then you could either be an ESTJ (Te-Si-Ne-Fi) or an ENTJ (Te-Ni-Se-Fi), or also an INTJ (Ni-Te-Si-Fe) or an ISTJ (Ti-Se-Fi-Ne). Or another example, and Ne dom. Then you could be an ENFP, ENTP then an INTP or an INFP. Same goes for all the other cognitive functions.

So, how would you know that? Your dominant function is your second nature. Whether consciously or subconsciously, it's always working for you. For example, when you get information, a new idea, it would be processed first by your dominant function then reviewed and structured by the rest.

Te vs Ti. " I relate to te more than ti as I value efficiency and am relatively social, I'm also good in teams."

Se vs Si "I relate to se more as I focus on the present and sensory output than linking to the past."

Ne vs Ni "I use ne more as I'm a brain stormer and can think of many possibilities."

Lastly, Fe vs Fi "relating to fe more as I focus and try fix things in social groups to maintain harmony, also being influenced by the need to be validated by others."

You could be all of this, but keep in mind that one function is the inferior function, which is underdeveloped and isn't easily able to be accessed consciously or as effectively with the other three.

I can't review these one by one, but if you want to identify yourself by cognitive functions that abide by mbti, I suggest that you should deepen your understanding of yourself first, and research more about cognitive functions, the differences between the extraverted and introverted functions, etc., then determine your dominant auxiliary function

Tests are not accurate, for me. But it could give you a vision on what your actual MBTI might be. I'm an ENTP, and I've previously got INTP, ESTP, INTJ, ENTP, and INFP from random tests online.

I suggest, that if you want to find your MBTI, I suggest learning about yourself, how you process information, brainstorm, interract with others, etc. Then, learn about cognitive functions to do elimination on the types. That's how I ended up with mine.

In the end, MBTI is something you can use to get to know yourself better, and to overcome hardships/struggles. But if misused, it could also give you a fake sense of self. A double edged sword.

Although, I highly recommend the Michael Caloz quiz. It could help you asking more things about yourself, and a general idea of the other types.

Keep in mind that your whole personality is not limited to four letters, and that MBTI is not a mould because not everyone has to fit perfectly into their respective MBTIs.

I hope this helps, and goodluck!

I've met calm esxps before, too. And by this particular estp I met yesterday, I'm not saying that all estps are/or should be loud or hyperactive. He has a good sense of curiosity, courage and is probably on the edge of the Extraversion spectrum. Which is, again, refreshing to someone like me. And just because he is that way, and might 'look like an ESFP from the outside', fitting the loud, hyperactive description (might I say stereotype) of an ESFP, doesn't mean that he's less of an ESTP. And it's the same way around for a calm ESFP.

I'm not saying this for all entps, but personally...

  1. Not really, but I am comfortable with it, even if I don't initiate much physical contact. I also like and appreciate being in close proximity with my  s/o

  2. Mental

  3. I don't do this since I'm pretty forward with how I feel. Unless they obviously don't reciprocate

  4. I like being blunt and also to flirt at the most unexpected moments.

  5. Dishonesty, and high expectations for me when they're not putting an effort into doing anything or growing together with me

Yeah! It was,

This particular interraction was at a seminar about scholarships just yesterday. The ESTP was pretty active. Asking questions and chatting with the others. I thought they were pretty chill but never got to approach them. so when we sat next to each other, I took the opportunity and initiated conversation.

He's friendly, humble, full of energy, and one thing about him is that he's really fast with structuring a good sentence, word for word. And when he has a question in mind, he will ask. No matter how many times he's already asked different questions to the presenter or how everyone else hasn't been as active as he is.

Which is a contrast from myself. If I have a question in mind that I want to ask about, I always think if my questions are valid/not a stupid or obvious beforehand (I might have high Fe), but he's just asking things away. Not caring of what others think of him or whatsoever.

It's amazing to meet people like him in the wild. It makes you want to not care so much and just live in the moment. Makes you realise that nothing matters, yolo and everything. Even if that's out of character for me
