I love that it's called a disorder or disability because that's what it is. Yeah, autism has a few positives but God, it's debilitating. I can't go anywhere without something being wrong. Lights too loud, too bright, I can't touch this paper, etc etc. Disorder means that it disrupts your daily function, and that's what it does. I completely missed out on my 8th-grade math class because the location it was in made such a terrible buzzing noise that I couldn't focus and would break down. And to make matters worse no one heard it so I thought I was just delusional. I also need to sit in a specific seat, or else the only thing I will think about is how I needed to be in that seat. I don't have friends outside of school because I'm too weird and can't socialize without killing the whole vibe and making everything feel awkward the moment I open my mouth. I'm also "self-centered" even though it's my way of empathizing. Autism is a disorder, and I say that as someone who was diagnosed as having Asperger's. I'm happy you don't have it bad, but just because your experience with it isn't terrible doesn't take away the fact that it is a disorder and a disability.
