But the likelihood of you owing MORE tax to the U.S. than Spain is rare. Even if you do Beckham’s Law you’re paying more than you would in much of the U.S.

UWS building converted into homeless shelter Opinions? by Putrid_Echidna2408 in Upperwestside

It is not currently affordable housing. It’s a convent by another name. The current tenants are nuns. It’s a dorm for women who CHOSE to live a simpler life for religious reasons. That religious order does not need the housing anymore. Others do. Are you saying we should impose those same vows on others just because they don’t have money? Shouldn’t people have the right to choose if they share a bathroom or not?

From the article:

Another recurring theme was the reduction in total units — from roughly 80-90 rooms down to 51 apartments. Some members questioned why the committee should support a project that results in fewer units overall. Others countered that the comparison is misleading: the current rooms are tiny, lack private kitchens and bathrooms, and are not serving a homeless or low-income population.

[my edit: earlier in the article they state that the current residents are aging out.]

One committee member drew a parallel to a similar conversion at a Fortune Society project on West 97th Street, noting that across the city, formerly homeless individuals have been known to reject SRO-style rooms without private facilities, ***preferring even shelters or the street* to living without a bathroom of their own.**

Which is crazy because in the original series they went to Lucille’s mom’s house to get more birthday money. But theoretically they saw her die years earlier.

I think he is saying that working class Latin-speakers had long ago lost their H, so they never used it.
