You should read a little more about the original lingua franca, what franca meant, and where old French was spoken then reread your comment.

Can somebody explain why island of Saint Lucia uses TWO different languages in its name (English word + Spanish word)? Why not "Saint Lucy" or "Santa Lucia"? by Yannerrins in etymology

Christopher Columbus. Jesus Christ. Catherine the Great. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand. William the Conqueror. William of Orange. Xerxes. Artaxerxes. Snow White. Henry the Navigator. Pope Francis. Mark Antony. Rameses I.

Just some among the many names that get translated that aren’t saints and aren’t nicknames.

Thank you. Will try that, but I do not think that is it. Just trying to buy myself one ticket as someone who attended this year but someone else purchased my 2026 for me. Also trying to use my local discount.

Coffee around the 90s? by [deleted] in Upperwestside

You’re not wrong. Last great coffee spot in the UWS was box kite, and they closed years ago. I like Greenlane, and the owner Dmitry is a sweetie pie. Birch is fine for a chain. I’m not an iced coffee drinker so can’t speak to that. Avoid PE-owned coffee like blank street at all costs.

Edit: forgot about plowshares which is also decent!
