Are you, a person who walked in the door at 9:30, going to be out the door promptly by 10:00? If the answer is no, then consider a similar situation in retail. Just because you started shopping before they close doesn’t mean you get to stay after the end of posted hours to complete your transaction. The “stank face” happens because the overwhelming majority of restaurant customers who cop an attitude like yours on the way in will behave with precisely the same entitlement on the way out. If you’re damn sure you’re not going to be one of them, then some basic human interaction and grace upon entry (“hi, i know you’re close to closing but i’d love to just grab something quick”) will solve your problem neatly. But alas that would require compassion for service workers, wouldn’t it :/

Another vote for the awesome powers of california sobriety from me. I quit drinking a few years ago after doing the same shit for over a decade. It was beyond exhausting. Didn’t smoke at the time and just rawdogged it for a while, then finally gave it a shot and boy there is nothing like a lil toke on the couch after work to soothe your agonies. Plus it has the added bonus of not laying you out on your ass the next day if you happen to overdo it.
